I highly recommend bulk liquid soap! We get ours at Costco. No sticking together!

Yeah we did the math on this in my household. Apparently I am a fuck up who cannot properly measure detergent. I don’t like using these things but they save me like two bucks on average per container.

I save every one I get, cut it open and pour it in a Mason jar. When I need a big pack, I pour some into a coffee filter, tie it off with a rubber band and microwave hell out of it. Recycled!

For those not in the know, the colored beads indicate water saturation. Nuke 'em till they change color. If you have the super cheap beads with no colored beads, nuke 'em for a minute or three.

I hate them as well… I used to get liquid forever, but my wife believes half a bottle per load is the recommended amount. So I switched to these because even though they cost more the hope was to curve how much was used. Well that also failed since she uses 3 to 4 per load. I will be back to single life soon and can’t wait for all the savings on stuff like essentials. Kind of crazy even thinking about all the wasted money.

I’m glad my situation is not like yours. lol. My wife uses a reasonable amount of detergent as far as what’s normal, but I prefer to use much less. I use about a third of what’s recommended, and I like how that works just fine.

the hope was to curve how much was used.

Not intended as a harsh correction, but in case you were curious, it’s to “curb” how much was used.

Same. What is wrong with them? We’ve discussed it. We’ve read the back of the bottle. Oh, we’ve seen the proper amount. But as soon as she’s on her own . . . *blup blup blup blup*

I would suggest reviewing the usage instructions on the packaging with your wife, but this is quite likely a part of why I do not have one :p

Yeah, reviewed and asked for years. It’s one of many things she just doesnt care to listen to. She thinks it doesnt matter, but when i say we can extend the use of this product 4x as long meaning thats 4x less money spent on something that in my eyes does cost a significant amount then yes it does matter. Plus she does like 2-3 loads a day because if a shirt touches the ground it needs to be rewashed and if you wear a shirt for 2 min it also needs to be washed. That logic with 2 kids makes laundry pile fast. She also has work clothes, change into home clothes, after shower clothes every day… the amount of wasted resources (water, electric), wasted cleaner, and wasted time is staggering and laundry is never ending or ever caught up. You can probably imagine applying this to other areas of life and yup I can’t do it anymore. Can’t wait to lose the stress of people who make me be stressed…

Don’t want to turn this into a bitch fest about spouses, but my god, my wife…

She has this thing where she’s terrified of being stinky. She’s Asian BTW, not sure she can stink. Everything is worn once.

Sport coat to work? WASH Bathrobe? WASH Scarf? WASH

Have to all but push her out of the way to do laundry because she feels it’s the wife’s job. I’m unemployed BTW. 🙄 She has to dry ALL THE THINGS. Half out stuff comes out barely damp so I hang it, drives her nuts. Ever met a woman who will happily run her own bras through the drier?!

I wonder what brings a relationship to this point. My new spouse and I don’t do everything the same way and it’s a nonisssue, efficient or not. But I imagine nobody goes into a relationship where living together is stressful at first. What changes? Did money get tight? The communication stopped?

Yeah things change. Mostly children changes your entire life and things get harder and more stressful. For me this stuff wasnt the deal breaker, I did learn to live with it and many other inconveniences. After a while those things pile up and then they do other things that ends up being the final issue. For me it was refusing to pay her share of the mortgage and spending got out of control. We go into debt and then forclose on the house leading to bankruptcy to be filed. Last chance to make things right we try once more and didnt last 2 months before same stuff happened. Oh and she went out of her way to go purchase a new puppy while i had zero knowledge of this. That was my moment. All of this was over the course of 2 years as well so plenty of time to reflect and try things to resolve everything but nope nothing worked.

I often think that about myself, or people online bitching about nothing.

“You must have a charmed life if this is the bullshit you’re worried about.”

Somebody on here was whining about a thing, I forget, but it was pathetic. And no, they weren’t being tongue-in-cheek or self-detracting, honestly mad about trivia.

“I’m sure a bombed out Palestinian child would agree that that’s fucking awful.”

BTW, despite the interesting conversations in here, this is the dullest fucking thing I’ve seen posted here in some time. Bravo.

Hehehe. Thank you for the dull compliment.

I frequently do tongue in cheese, but also serious, saying when something bad happens. Working in psych, it surprisingly makes people laugh well.

If I am having a conversation with a patient, and I complain about something, I say “Eh, could be worse though. We could be in Yemen”

They laugh. I laugh. We both cry inside.

I switched from these to Pronounce laundry powder. I realized by adding OxyBoost and my wife adding baking soda we were essentially halfway to better laundry soap already.

These things are unbelievably sensitive to moisture. Only handle them with bone-dry hands. If the storage under your sink gets humid, consider moving them to the pantry!

those things have not been fully dissolving in my last few loads, plastic left sticking to my clothes, sometimes melded into the fabric… it’s time to go back to liquid i think
