Grilled broccoli with some grilled lemon squeezed on top is such an easy go-to veggie for cookouts.

Tater tots! Shredded potato formed into a cylinder, fried once, and frozen. Then toasted at home.

Did the toasting harm the cylinder

In this case, I do not think it imperative that the cylinder remain unharmed.

Haha, these are just store bought frozen tater tots. I assume there’s a big industrial machine to make them.

Wait. Are these home-made tater tots? Like you started with whole, unpeeled potatoes and created this masterpiece?

Nah, these are just store bought. You can make them yourself, but it’s a huge pain. They need to be twice fried, and you have to form each one individually by hand. https://www.seriouseats.com/homemade-tater-tots

The end result is almost identical. Fun to say you did, but in no way worth it.

Why on earth would you ruin a perfectly delicious meal with a huge chunk of fucking broccoli? I know there are mutants (in the literal sense because it’s a DNA mutation, bitter was the original default) out there who don’t taste the bitterness, but that’s a bacon cheeseburger and fried potatoes. You can’t make that any healthier and still call it delicious.

      There’s no accounting for taste.

I like the flavor of grilled broccoli. It doesn’t taste that bitter if you use fresh broccoli and cook it right. It’s an easy side when you’ve already got the grill fired up.

Plus, a little bit of butter/oil and some garlic powder on perfectly roasted broccoli florets is simply divine

I’ve had several meals in restaurants where the broccoli tastes better than the meat, and the meat was good.

Looks like it’s roasted in oil (edit: I see it’s grilled not roasted, still the char looks perfect and I bet it was amazing), they aren’t going for healthy broccoli, they are going for delicious. Personally I think roasted broccoli pairs well with a proper cheeseburger. If anything it’s the tater tots that don’t belong on that plate

Yup! Whenever we grill, it’s usually just the burger and the broccoli. I was just trying to use up some stray tater tots from the last time we made hot dish.
