While that article mentions highlights in his acting history, it makes no mention of his best role: Bester from Babylon 5

I generally don’t get too emotionally invested in characters in entertainment that make it personal, but Bester was one of the few that made it through my guard. WK did such a good job. I despised Bester, that smug arrogance and position that made the character essentially untouchable really ground my gears. I knew he was going to make me vicariously angry when he showed up. He was the Nazi that remorselessly killed people in camps by day and went home to a family at night like nothing was wrong…just another Tuesday. Good writing and great acting.
I hate Bester!!! Oooooo hated. Such a good actor.
If teeps actually existed, then I think we mundanes would essentially be like a disabled person who is missing a sense. I’ve always felt like that would be obvious if it was actually reality.
And so all of the Psy Corps’s assholery seems even worse. Not just a Nazi killing people in camps, but specifically killing disabled people.
He’s absolutely amazing in B5.

Such an amazing performance. We will see him in a little while, in a place where no shadows fall.
Unless they’ve changed it since you read it, it does mention b5.
In addition to Star Trek, you can see Koenig in “Babylon 5,” “Gidget,” “I Spy,” and “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour,” among several other TV series. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012.
I had specifically did a CTRL+F to search the page for
babylonjust in case I had missed the mention on my first read, but that turned up nothing. I see at the top of the article that it has been edited:Posted: Oct 26, 2026 / 11:23 AM CDT

Best Bester
Oh that’s just filthy
All our Chekovs are dead.
He wasn’t even a Red Shirt 🥺
Aw, damn. RIP
edit: he was so good natured about his age too. This was him talking about a convention a few years ago.

What a legend
…fuck, I was really hoping this was a joke… godammit.
ad astra, per aspera.Oh no. Corps is mother, corps is father.

At least he got 1 last entry in the last season of Picard, playing his own son, President Anton Chekov. Named after Anton Yelchin who played Chekov in nuTrek and tragically died young himself
Ahh that’s awesome.
My idea was for Chekov to be the captain of a ship called the Yeltsin and never seen on camera but is one of the characters that is the reason a lot of things happen.
Just cannonically make it so that he’s just out there doing good work that we never see until we find a report from captain Chekov from the Yeltsin
I believe it’s canon that he retired an admiral and had a ship named after him…which unfortunately perished in the Battle of Wolf 359
Wouldn’t be the first time an Admiral chooses to reduce their rank back to Captain. But eh not like it matters.
Can always build new ships with same name lol
I still can’t bring myself to watch that show. Season 1 was so bad but I pushed through, hoping it would get better. Season 2 was even worse and I gave up a few episodes in.
It really seemed like it was the Patrick Stewart show, and Jean-Luc Picard was nowhere to be found.
I never said it was good, but I slogged through it. It’s nothing but a desperate hail mary of fan service.
Thanks for taking one for the team.
Season 3 is pure fanservice. That was a good thing to me, but YMMV.
JMS, the creator of B5, has written a great tribute to Walter on Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:mjkpur3xdjoe2ntaanrckab2/post/3mysvhxawhs2o
Whoa! That is really beautiful! Seriously, thank you for linking that!!
Well worth reading. Thank you for the link.
May he find his space troll in the great beyond.

RIP

She’s only green because she was with Kirk.
Goodbye, Sir. You were a legend and you’ll be dearly missed.

Godspeed.
At least he got to live a full life, unlike poor Anton Yelchin who filled the same role later on.
What happened to him is bonkers.
I was 11 when TOS first came on TV. It was the height of the Cold War and having a Russian bridge officer was kind of shocking to me. A black woman officer on the bridge went right over my head but a Russian, that was a big deal.
But that was Gene Roddenberry.
I got to see him at a convention when I was a wee bairn. He was really nice and had a ton of great stories. RIP, sir.
I hope he’s found the best modestly-priced wessel.

dammit now we have -2 Checkovs. this fucking blows.
So does this leave just Shatner and Takei from the OG main cast?
The captains are the last to leave the ship.
