Been using Firefox since was called Phoenix, but some months ago I moved away to Librewolf, and I’m not going back, no matter the ad campaign. I feel my privacy is at risk, and I feel like I was a product that they need to monetize. No thanks
Same.
Still using it. Its great. Ublock origin my love. WebtoEpub has saved a LOT of sites from destruction. Thres a metric ton of extensions I love to use.
WebtoEpub has saved a LOT of sites from destruction.
Sounds interesting, but I’m not quite getting the likely use case. Can you give a little more info?
It creates a epub out of any site. And if theres a next button, it pulls from that as well. So a “book” is produced from many different sites.
Theres a lot of people that use forums/wordpress/comics/etc… for their content of choice. But hey I want to read it on an ebook reader. So I use the extension boom epub.
Also its all in one file so you dont have to hunt and peck for resources. Its really useful on say royal road or sites that dont have a https://archiveofourown.org/
And it says offline in your library.
Thanks I might have to check it out.
coo: https://github.com/dteviot/WebToEpub So your not hunting.
Thanks buddy!
Then take out the AI, the telemetry, and the bloat like it was the mid-2000s.
Oh wait -that’s what Waterfox did.
Looks like waterfox went full AI. Also a VAST majority of the firefox like clones/forks/etc still rely on the Mozilla team for interop and maintenance. Some even pull down the same libraries maintained by the team. Like Librewolf in particular pulls a LOT from firefox main code and waterfox pulls from libraries.
“Full AI” a feature to summarize pages that can be toggled off easily
I mean the code. Like ime seeing a HUGE Agents folder right at the beginning of the project. And the git commits.
sigh
I will stick with LibreWolf, but I do love this ad.
Strange but probably true: Somewhere in the world, there are people who feel nostalgia for the Annoying Orange.
I had somehow blocked out the memory until now
Man it’s too bad they didn’t get Rick Astley in there too. Could’ve licensed the song too.
Thanks, I hate it. Not the browser, but the ad. I don’t want stale nostalgia. I want a modern, secure, privacy-oriented ecosystem and tools which help taking the internet back from the claws of megacorporations. Tools which help building new communities and resilience to corporate enshittification. The ad just rubs me entirely the wrong way.
Makes sense.
Boomer millennials are their main customer base.
Google fanboys out in force today! Generational divide is not real, class divide is the thing you should concern yourself with.
It’s a browser.
If you genuinely think there’s fanboys about that.
Well Jesus H Christ you need to get out more.
And yet
You’re acting like a fanboy getting offended when someone doesn’t share your opinion.
I know
Weird to dismiss us both out of hand as google fanboys, I was just doing them the courtesy of getting their joke.

Sorry, link broken. Is it imgur? Not even my VPN beats their hatred of the UK.
Boomer mi- actually I get it yeah, that tracks.
Ask yourself why would Mozilla spend money on this advertisement?
Because they want market share back? Not exactly hard.
Nope. Chuck Testa.
I pose the question not because it’s hard to answer, but because the answer should make you think of follow-up questions.
- Why do they want market share?
- To make more money.
- How does a web browser make money?
- By exploiting its users.
- How are they exploiting users?
These are just some examples. I’m sure you can think of more.
In a capitalist system, you advocate to never trust anyone under any circumstance. “To make more money” can just mean putting food on tables rather than be damning evidence of malfeasance. We already know for sure that Google is worse, so what do you suggest we do with your comment?
- Why do they want market share?
No thank you.
