13·5 days agoWhat is the point of that, does the US need to keep consumer cards in the hands of random citizens for some reason? UK here and I could just buy one and not have that restriction surely.

8·10 days agoOf course! Load up a bunch of sea shanties and a good chance a few of them have played other styles too. Probably got some protest songs in there, the workers song/chemical workers song. Within an hour or so the playlist will have you asking which side are you on.
Sounds interesting, Mayo is mostly oil so if sounds logical I guess.
Just ban low effort content, AI or human made slop both count and have no value.
Overall, for the carved lines to contrast with the surrounding surface. In the current attempt that is going for darker on the carved parts.
Woodburning would certainly be dark. Not sure how well it would do multiple depths, although so far only doing a simple single depth carving if I get better at it then could look at multiple.
I am now wondering how long the wax I am using takes to dry. It said 5-10 mins but that could be specifically for a very thin surface cover. At work now but I might poke the wax still in the groves when I am home and its had hours to dry. Perhaps some of the problem is wiping it too early and the thicker layers need more time.
Not sure how easily that would apply. Black/dark brown crayon/beeswax could be something to try. Not sure how easy it would be to remove it if some ends up in the wrong place. Might be OK to sand it off.
Deliberately burning the wood is an interesting idea
Carving through the oil is the idea. It seems like wax on bare wood is darker than wax on oil. So the oil that remains in the uncarved parts would reduce how much the wax sticks there, but not in the carved parts.
Clear waxing before carving sounds like it is probably similar oiling before carving. But I don’t have clear wax, just the Danish oil. Both presumably leave a protective layer in the uncarved areas that reduce how much of the coloured wax sticks there in comparison.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•Me, every time the transporter debate kicks off.
2·21 days agoOh, sorry about that. Glitch in the teleporter gave your friend a 30cm cock.
Huh, turns out when you lept into the teleporter after him it balanced it by removing yours.
Don’t even have loans, literally only the mortgage. Even that I don’t like but its the only way to get a house really. Hopefully going to pay it off decades early, should be able to with the rate I am saving currently if my partner does the same.
Crazy that I am doing that on £29k though.
No, stop giving the system legitimacy. Reject it and leave their platform if it is required.
Don’t even log into YouTube.
You can trick it easily for now. I haven’t because I worry it gives the system more legitimacy than it deserves. No, not doing it at all. Closing your site and going somewhere else.
Many adults don’t have one either. I’m in my 30s, got a house. Never had or wanted a credit card. Most people I know don’t have one, although a lot of people nationally do have one there are also lots without.
To the American busy typing away, no. I don’t need one. Go away.

3·23 days agoIf they don’t have good reasons it sounds like they are wasting time on the job
Now that could be tempting. Though I went past it again this morning on my way to work (and getting some wood oil) and it looks more rotten than I first thought it was.
Still, got an allotment and twice a year they give us a skip to dispose of waste in. Next drop is coming soon and there may well be a few bits of wood ending up in there.

Currently in the original England, so it might get a bit wet.
