Courtney (she/her/they)

Hello lovelies, I am a (trans)Woman who is still in the process of discovering herself!

I have been working up the courage to be who I am for so long, I am excited to be figuring things out.

Pre-HRT, pre-fashion-sense, and pre-confidence.

Any and all tips and advice from more experienced women are welcome!

  • Q isn’t confined by the passage of time as humans are.

Q is an energy being occupying a higher plane of existence (note: this does not require morality and I’m not sure why anyone thinks "higher plane* requires someone to be morally good)

Q was punched because Q allowed himself to be punched. Any other Q would certainly not take that kind of thing from a bug. When bugs bite, they get swatted, unless you want the bug alive.

Sisko may think he’s tough for standing up to Q and not indulging shenanigans. Sisko is tough for many reason, but not this one.

Sisko is lucky Q is fascinated by humanity so much or he would be shrunk to the size of a Proton and tossed into a neutron star to be squished for all time.

  • Hard disagree on the quality, I loved it even if the first episode of s9 had me a little upset at, first. Much like Mitchell was.

The show 100% improved in their last two seasons, and nobody can convince me otherwise. It was great when it aired, it’s held up well since then.

They had been operating for many years under the “gotta make a cliffhanger that can pivot to a movie in case we get canceled” and then a surprise pickup for another season, when they finally thought they were getting another season the network just decided “nah we want new flashy tech heavy shows more in the next 5 minutes” and they got the surprise too late in the season to flesh out an ending without movies.

While I did enjoy the movies, I feel like they would have worked better as 3-4 episodes each in their own season.

Hell, half a normal season would have probably cost less and did more for the story.

I always loved the minor shade the writers tossed around, and the jokes about various governments always made me chuckle.

Honestly the one bit in the clipisode where they inform other governments of the program where the Chinese ambassador says “the government of China doesn’t hide thing from it people” was hilarious then and it’s double hilarious now, just for different reasons. I’d love to know how writers of the show might have dealt with the last few year. Some may have refused to write for a show glamorizing the US military anymore. I know I would have by now. Or put in so many negative things the producers would fire me.

But yeah, I love all 10 seasons, and if every copy in the world were destroyed, I have 5 different backups of the Blu ray and DVD sets. In fairness those backups also contain the rest of my movies and shows, it’s not just contained to sg1…

  • From my understanding, these two don’t really get along (spouse watches Wednesday) but eventually learn to at least get along if not become besties.

I don’t like the idea of shows not getting along. Even if this is more or less how Sisko’s meeting with Picard went in ep1…

The shows are all best friends (especially the conflicting ones) it’s only some of the fans that suck with their “mine is better than yours” nah muthafuckas, all our shows are fantastic. Even if some made some questionable theme decisions , at least they all had faith of the heart.

  • I recently left a job where my coworker was the absolute dumbest motherfucker I have ever met, but at least he was willing to listen to people with differing opinions. I think I managed to pull him a little left, at the very least he started out going “the people in charge generally know what is best for us even if they sometimes dip into things themselves” and ended with “fuck ice, they’re fascists acting exactly like the nazis did and the shitbags in charge are enabling them at every turn, the whole system needs reset” which is a pretty big leap, IMO.

One thing I couldn’t budge him on was the moon landing. It doesn’t matter that I have assisted in a laser range-finding experiment using the retro reflectors left on the moon, thus confirming to myself that we HAVE been there.

It didn’t matter how much I explained the Apollo missions, how much I explained why things behave in space the way they do, how much I explained why NASA essentially hd to rebuild a moon mission from the ground up, or any number of things. He still firmly believed it was all bullshit and we never went there.

I would always end the conversation about space stuff with “the biggest reason to me is that the USSR never came out and said ‘this is fake, here’s proof they faked the landing’ and basically gave up not long afterward, and they clearly had spies and intelligence capable of infiltrating NASA systems and obtaining classified information, just look at the Russian space shuttle. If they knew we faked it, they would have every reason in the world to embarss us by revealing our lies to the world” and he would always agree on that point. Still fake to him though
