I thought the new Klingons were going to be what I hated most about new Star Trek. Oh boy, was I wrong.
People that nope out of Discovery on the first episode hate them the most. People that don’t get other reasons.
The parts I liked most about Discovery turned out to be shamelessly stolen from an Indie game developer.

I dunno man. The tardigrade was in three episodes. I feel bad for the developer but this seems like a stretch. Most writers are not starved for ideas to the point that they need to go copying posts from indie gamedev Twitter.

I noped out because a Vulcan trained human was acting irrationally and defied their captain to fulfill some personal goal that put the many in jeopardy because of the few. Everything Michael Burnham did was anti-Trek behavior from the start.
While I agree, that what she did was anti-Trek, I don’t necessarily hate the story.
What she did was anti-Trek, and against many Starfleet regulations. She was sentenced to prison if I’m not mistaken. But through the efforts of a Terran Empire infiltrator, gained a second chance. I think everything she did after that was in Starfleet’s best interest.
While many series have focused on what happens if everyone does there job appropriately, rarely have we seen someone break the rules. I think it is important to show what happens when someone does to fully understand the fictional world. More than that it is a reminder that sometimes you make big, big mistakes. But you can still get a second chance. And you can use that chance to push yourself farther than you ever imagined.
Right? And why focus on one character instead of the crew? There is no “main character” in Star Trek. It’s just another example of how Rodenberry’s vision has been bastardized beyond recognition.
What are you talking about? What about Tilly, what about Engineer Stamets married to Doctor Culber, Saru, Captain Lorca(Terran Infiltrator), Christopher Pike, Spock, Sarek, Georgiou, Cleveland Booker, his cat, the future admiral, all of future Starfleet, all of the people affected by the burn… Like what are you talking about. What about pike seeing how he was meant to die. In a chair where he could only beep and was mutilated until he was nearly unrecognizable, how are you going to twist that into a story about “the main character”.
As far as I’m concerned, Trek ended with Enterprise and the end of the Berman Era.
It’s a stinking pile of unrecognizable garbage. It’s made by people who openly hated actual Trek.
I disagree with all of that, especially Enterprise, I liked it but it misses on replay value. I don’t think it is unrecognizable, it applies the same Starfleet principles to new situations.
But I will admit that I would appreciate any new view into the Starfleet universe. If I get to see something new, then the Starfleet universe is ever expanding, and there is greater hope. Hope that someday that will be us, the human race, exploring the galaxy.
I see none of the Fully Automated Gay Luxury Space Communism. It’s the opposite. It’s corporate crap produced by Nazis. Even before Ellison, Moonves was the one responsible for killing it. He hated Star Trek, the guy who kept a permanent employee and office for a full time blowjob woman.
Star Trek died that day. What’s left is a disgusting corpse being dragged around by their killer, like some macabre marionette.
