    Ugh

Low hanging fruit at best from lazy writers who heard the word “Klingons” and “progressive” so went with this

Seriously, had I seen a gay Klingon on TNG I would have completely gone with it because TNG had (mostly) great writers that would make some awesome episode about it that would make you think and talk about it for days.

But this being nu trek, I suppose the guy will remind everyone 5 times each episode that he’s gay. He’s a Klingon but they’ll make him effeminate, even though female Klingons not once not ever were like that. They’ll make him use all sort of modern sassy expressions or something and all the open moral and ethical questions that TNG would do will be completely 100 % if ores because why make an intelligent show if you can just virtue signal and call it a day?

Modern trek sucks sooooo bad, and yes, I’m so happy I stopped watching as it was making me depressed. Star trek, of all things, was making a progressive person depressed. Fuck nu trek.

Thank goodness, nothing like that. There’s nothing to think or talk about, other than to shout down bigots. His relationship is built up in the background of unrelated episodes, given no more focus or fanfare than any other character’s relationship. No one so much as says “huh, a gay Klingon”. It’s a non-issue. He’s just matter-of-factly gay. In other words, they handled it perfectly.

That would be new for nu trek, then.

And it still would be less than TNG because TNG would use it in some storyline somewhere to show how certain people might face hardships you don’t know about, or something.

Just a few days ago I saw another one that was just too cringe for words. I saw fragments of star trek academy which … No words beyond “terrible” and “dumb”. But as an additional bonus:

There is an obese female Jem’Hadar in that show. Now anyone who has watched DS9 will know that this is just… Come on… It’s so stupid. The Jem’Hadar are clones. There are no women in their society. They are clones, they live at best for 15 years, they’re interested in only one single thing: killing for their gods, the founders. Why? They’re programmed like that. Oh, did I mention as well that they are deadly addicted to a substance called “white”?

Sure, they have depth. This is DS9 we’re talking about, not vapid nu trek that had to simplify everything for everyone. There were Jem’Hadar that rebelled in a variety of ways. There were the one that found himself stranded, alone, on a planet and turns out he wasn’t addicted, so he tried to convert others. He failed

Then there was the group that tried to open the iconian gateway. They were all killed by a mixed Jem’Hadar/Starfleet team

They live to fight and kill and die for their gods, that is life. We are now dead and go into combat to reclaim our lives. Victory is life!

And now we have a Starfleet obese female Jem’Hadar with an attitude and it’s just … Sad to see how lazy these writers are. Make your own damn soecies, just for once?

But of course they did this because that is what star trek is now. Nothing new, nothing progressive, nothing smart, nothing positive.

Oh, and there was the best of the best cadet who ate her comm badge… ALREADY? Huuurrr duurrr, laugh everybody!

God, nutrek is so cringe that I might actually watch it just to see how deep the crap hole goes.

I mean, the fact that Klingons being different may have to do with losing their world and 800 years of evolving? But sure, I’m sure he’s the only one that didn’t act like a berserker lusting for violence (Even though Worf and Alexander were other examples of culturally different Klingons). My only hangup with Klingons is the constant shift in appearances. Species don’t change drastically 3 times in one century usually. To trigger so many mutations Qonos must be constantly shifting in climate.

It’s also the first time I remember seeing a Klingon medical researcher but I don’t see anyone getting bent out of shape about his unusual, you might say progressive, career path for some reason

Or, you know, and this is a crazy idea, the writers actually start working for their salaries and come up with a new species altogether?

        I know, crazy concept
