Killzone for PlayStation 2.
This was Sony’s much-touted “Halo killer”—a gritty FPS meant to prove the PS2 could compete with Xbox on the shooter front. It had online play as a headline feature, though not everyone had broadband back then. And while it never dethroned Halo, it was still one of the better attempts—far stronger than most other so-called Halo killers.
I’ve always had fun with this one. The single-player campaign looks moody, the Helghast are iconic, and the atmosphere is pure mid-2000s PlayStation. I never touched the multiplayer, but even offline it’s a great FPS in the PS2 library.
@atomicpoet @videogames Really great game in its own right. Had it not had the “Halo Killer” tag attached to it, would’ve been an even bigger success.
Played a lot of this game back in the day. Good times.
I vaguely remember the enemies being bullet sponges. Lost interest instantly.
OK I watched 15 seconds of gameplay on YouTube and my memory is vindicated.
Modern emulator can run the multi-player online right? It’s never too late to try, I’d love to play as well.
