Oops, I’m sorry. I’d keep investigating that avenue though. Pain or fear of pain. Or fear of something else.
Hello. I’ve been silenced, removed and blocked enough on lemmy dot ml for being a filthy leftist but not a falling in line defending totalitarian states full blown authoritarian communist. Sooo I’m blocking everything from lemmy dot ml so I don’t have to be bothered with any more of that nonsense. If you are on lemmy dot ml and commenting on me I will not see it. Ta ta.

I’m thinking pain too, or fear of pain. I’d say OP needs to take the dog to the vet for a proper exam instead of speculations by us strangers on the internet.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linus Torvalds Removes The Bcachefs Code From The Linux Kernel
5·2 months agoThe fallout for people knowingly risking their data beta testing a filesystem that is still in experimental and some users running into issues and possibly corruption?
There are no stories because it is not a story when a test environment for finding bugs fails and the bugs get fixed. Nobody with data they can not lose are putting it on bcachefs because why would they.
Thanks for running a test environment though. Please take backups of anything important, just in case.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linus Torvalds Removes The Bcachefs Code From The Linux Kernel
59·2 months agoIt was nowhere close to be mature enough to be in the kernel. The developer is nowhere close to be mature enough to be involved in the kernel. It’s better for everybody if it is developed separately and maybe integrated again at a later stage when the file system and tooling are considered stable and changes are smaller and less sensitive. CacheFS being in the kernel might mislead people to rely on a filesystem that is still experimental and under heavy development. Personally I am looking forward to see it mature because I’d love to run it on my file storage home server when it is stable enough.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Men can take their shirts off for hot days and exercise. Why can't women do the same in 2025?
75·2 months agoWhere I am it is frowned upon with men going topless in public spaces unless it is a beach or some private area or they are doing heavy work in particularly hot weather and not just regular spring or summer. It is tolerated but barely so that men are running or exercising without a shirt. Women with just a sport bra or even a bikini top are quite common though, both in exercise and even in town. Personally I think it is equally tacky to be undressed like that regardless of gender, but I’m not really bothered enough to care. It would be considered very rude and sexist to comment on a women in bikini top to dress up though, unless it was upon entry to a space or venue where people are expected to wear appropriate clothes. Clubs tolerate women in barely tops but would not accept a man bare chested.
In business it is expected that men are fully dressed and buttoned to regardless the temperature while women can wear whatever clean and neat that is not showing off too much skin. In casual situations women can have any amount of cleavage but if a man buttons down the shirt so that the top hairs of his chest are showing it is an open invitation for ridicule for trying to be macho even if it is obviously for trying to cool down in 35°C weather. Unbuttoning a shirt all the way is a definitive no-no unless you’re a teen or a country bumpkin.
On beaches anybody can be wearing anything though on regular beaches some sort of bottoms are mandatory. From tiny string bottoms only to shorts or swimming suit to burqini. In “proper” sauna you are not allowed swimsuits or shorts at all for hygiene reasons but in public sauna they are mandatory.
So, you see, it is not binary good and bad and humans and society is more complicated than men horny.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what is something silly you do for no other reason than its just normal for you?
2·3 months agoWild strawberries grow small and give very tasty little fruits. They are easy to grow on a balcony though quite dramatic and need plenty of water when there is sun and heat. First year they didn’t give almost any fruit but second year on I have a handful of harvest daily all of late summer. Very satisfying.
I’ve tried having small bushes of goose berries but they got hit with mildew, probably because there wasn’t enough exchange of air.
Try different things, see what works where you are.

153·4 months agoYou are being downvoted because you argue your personal interpretation against a factual scientific classification.
If the experts in the field have concluded that a tiny fruit that contains a tiny seed is still a fruit, then arguing against it is inaccurate.
Unless you too are an expert in the field and have some substantial arguments otherwise that are more relevant that a gotcha.

Dogs@lemmy.world•Ducky got his DNA test back. What do you think?English
1·4 months agoSo you keep implying that you have never heard of what in media is called "pit bull attacks? I find that very hard to believe. That’s why I keep asking.
And you maintain you don’t know of any negative or detrimental traits in pitbulls and mixes like, lets see, orthopedic problems, cardiovascular issues, allergies, neurological problems and so on that are typical for these dogs?
This is the kind of research you need to do on your own about the dog you are getting or the one you have got. All dogs and all dog breeds have a multitude of issues that a responsible dog owner is aware of. But then again, not everybody is interested in being a responsible dog owner.
From my personal anecdotal experience, it is depressingly common with people that own muscle dogs and to lesser extent other dog breeds that are colloquially considered dangerous. People that want dangerous dog to feel cool about themselves but don’t want any of the responsibility of owning a dog and even less the responsibility of owning a dog that might actually be dangerous. Dangerous, as you claim to not be aware in the slightest, as in pitbull and other muscle dog mixes being successfully bred for fighting by having a superior capacity to snap and fight until death with exceptional jaw strength at the expense of their health profile and the psychological predictability you normally aim for in a healthy dog breed of any kind.
What are your thoughts on this?

13·4 months agoTrying to understand what sounds like contradictory pick-and-choose arguments, please humour me;
Are genetics and inherited traits in different dog breeds real?
Besides being nanny dogs, what are pitbulls and muscle dogs known for?
What have been the uses for this type of dogs, except nanny dog etc, and what have a they been bred for?
You are really honest to whatever deity of your choosing not aware of any negative or adverse traits of said dogs?

There are plenty of dog breeds all over that have been bred for desired traits. Somebody tell the Brits that history didn’t begin with them sticking flags in the ground.
