Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Alright, who has the best info for using racing wheels on linux?English
1·8 months agoOversteer works for that. https://github.com/berarma/oversteer
Can get it with flatpak, AUR, or with the install instructions on the GitHub.
I have not adjusted mine though. Seems to work fine for truck game.
G29 will work ootb, newer Logitech wheel may need a custom driver (linked on the oversteer page)

Linux@lemmy.ml•[SOLVED] Installing Linux distro without breaking Windows install
1·8 months agoYeah you could try installing Linux with the Windows drive disconnected. I had Windows and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed installed with two drives on my old PC without any issues.

2·8 months agoHmm. Windows shouldn’t be putting anything on the Linux drive. Maybe disconnect the other drive before installing Windows.

2·8 months agoYou could use a separate drive for Linux.
I use bottles for other game launchers. You can select proton version once the bottle is created.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Alright, who has the best info for using racing wheels on linux?English
2·8 months agoI’ve been using a Logitech g29 (PS4/PS5/PC) for ETS 2. It worked out of the box with no extra stuff installed.
Have you checked out OpenSUSE Tumbleweed? Very stable rolling release. I’ve been using it for a couple years without issues.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Yet another "What distro should I use?" post, but at least I did some homework.
3·1 year agoI really enjoy Tumbleweed. I’ve been using it for about 18 months now without issue. One thing to note though is that TW only packages production release Nvidia drivers. This means you will not have the 555 or 560 drivers that make Wayland usable by default. You can always install the latest drivers with the run file provided by Nvidia. Some people also use the CUDA repo to get the newer drivers. However, I’d think both of these options may be the type of tinkering you are trying to avoid.
Overall I think TW is a great distro but it may be a bit more setup for Nvidia gaming on Wayland than you are looking for. If you’re down with doing a little tinkering or gaming on X give it a shot. You can always roll back if something gets messed up.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I need a distro that can work right out the box without too much hassle to configure it, which one would you recommend?
2·2 years agoOh yeah I’m on X11 for now, waiting on nvidia to be ready before trying wayland again. AMD users should be fine to use wayland though.

2·2 years agoRolling but feels very stable. Packages go through a testing phase before release to make sure they work properly. I really like getting all the newest updates and features.

7·2 years agoopenSUSE Tumbleweed is pretty comfy. Btrfs snapshots enabled by default so it’s really hard to break it. I’ve been using it for about 8 months now and haven’t had any big issues.

Linux@lemmy.ml•PipeWire 1.0 Released For Managing Audio/Video Steams On The Linux Desktop
2·2 years agoI have discord installed from the flatpak. Screen sharing works but it doesn’t share audio from the applications. Discord-screenaudio and web browser discord have been suggested to me but they don’t work with unfocused push to talk. I’ve also tried xwaylandvideobridge but that didn’t stream the audio either.

1·2 years agoI don’t see why not. Lots of new cars have these features built in.

Endeavor is a also a very good choice. It is pretty much arch with some QoL stuff added. Uses the arch repos for packages.
