The short version of that: it’s nearly impossible to out exercise poor diet but much less difficult to out diet poor exercise. (obviously, you still need exercise, but you don’t need to train like an olympic swimmer to lose weight if you make better dietary choices)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why aren’t any government making wealth inequality and property supply focused policies?English
6·9 months agoI’ve never read Kautsky, so I’ll have to take Lenin at his word since he was the first author to successfully lead a socialist revolution.

10·9 months agoState and Rev also has some of Lenin’s best one liner quips ever written, definitely recommend that one. I should probably give it a second reading, it’s a real banger of a book.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•should i put a disclaimer in my repos?English
4·9 months agoI was coming to recommend the same. GPL is a solid license for anything you plant to put in a public repo.

6·11 months agoEspecially when the majority of US weapons rely on chips from China (including Taiwan) to manufacture weapons. If the government decides to go to war with China head-on, China will absolutely wipe the walls with them.
Fred Hampton, he showed a generation how to build dual power and properly threaten the settler colonial governments of North America. Sadly, that government saw the threat to power he actually posed because he was so effective and they murdered him for it.

12·1 year agoYep, perfectly acceptable to be happy now, but do not let your guard down. The USA has done the same shit with trying to end civilian access to true encryption how many times?
Maybe setup a live USB and mount it from a live environment to see what it comes up with?
I’m in then! Sign me up for that quiet life.
Can I get the quiet and peaceful but be able to actually afford a house somewhere with reasonable transit and walkability without having to work more than 40 hours per week?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do I give my bad dad for father's day?English
7·2 years agoThe most boring father’s day greeting card you can find and a fiver.
Edit: actually, don’t spend the money on him, send him an electronic greeting card, equally boring, and donate, in his name, to a charity he’d hate.

32·2 years agoDepends on your definition of success. If you mean at removing drugs from wide availability, none. If you define success as making the prison industrial complex obscenely rich by locking away a new class of slaves and absolutely fucking ruining their lives, all of them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Suppose we knew the world was ending. Would the fear of knowing it's all over outweigh the relief of not having to goto work tomorrow?English
3·2 years agoYou do realize it’s entirely possible to hold more than one disparate emotions at once, right? If I knew the world was ending tomorrow, I’d definitely be excited that I wouldn’t have to scrub any fucking toilets at work, even if I would be sad/scared/etc that I couldn’t further accomplish or experience things I wanted to before I died.

Cycling. I was too heavy and out of shape to jump straight to the deep end so I went with a pedal assist ebike, it allows me to move at a rapid pace while still keeping in the cardio range. I live close enough to work to cycle to and from, gives me an extra 30 minutes of high intensity cardio per day. That and cooking at home using fresh ingredients as much as possible. Also, less garbage carbs, more complex carbs (also learned I have celiac disease so I also had to go gluten free, though you might not have that particular issue)
