i used inkscape for a project recently and was amazed how far it has come since the last time i used it, somewhere around 15-20 years ago. then it was quirky and homely, now it feels pretty professional. i was still able to crash it doing some normalish stuff though, so make sure to save your work often :-)

edit: videos linked above explained that it’s fluorescent. theory is that it’s a side-effect of having a fluorescent-filtering layer to the eye, which would help finding prey that use bioluminescence to blend in with the dim sunlight coming from above them
