Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Valve's in-development Deadlock gets a huge map overhaulEnglish
41·10 months agoRivals and overwatch have a shit ton in common. I see overwatch as the pioneer of hero shooters, maybe TF2.
Not to be pedantic, but it’s worth mentioning that two of the few biggest hero shooters are very similar.

Technology@beehaw.org•Pornhub Is Now Blocked In Almost All of the U.S. South
27·11 months agoIts all porn, pornhub just prohibits itself from operating in states that pass this legislation.
The legislation in question requires you to prove you’re over 18 to enter these sites. Whether that’s through id or credit card info. However, this can lead to some pretty insane security issues. Just imagine if the id of every user along with their browsing data got leaked.
So instead, pornhub just refuses to operate in those states.

Games@sh.itjust.works•Balatro dev: Talked with PEGI and they do not see anything wrong Balatro being rated 18+, nor with EA sports FC (and similar games) having a 3+ ratingEnglish
27·1 year agoOne “teaches” you to gamble, the other allows you to gamble. And the one that just teaches you has a higher rating. Crazy.
I can smell ant death pheromones. It smells like cleaner and artificial sweetener. A very unique smell but very pungent.
Honestly from the limited knowledge I have, Mongolians seemed to be the one of the chillest of invaders. They gave you a clear choice, let us rule you or die. And once they ruled you they allowed many freedoms that crusaders and colonizers didn’t. Their tactics were brutal and I think that’s why people see them as so evil.
The meme format doesn’t really work, but the joke they’re trying to make is that even though they did all these terrible things, it was never because of religion. In fact, they just didn’t give a fuck in what you believed in. Genghis even allowed religious figures to be exempt from taxation.

Technology@beehaw.org•YouTube is dedicated to making itself worse; destroys SponsorBlock with ad injection changes
5·1 year agoIf you don’t use YouTube, you’re also screwing over the content creators you enjoy. You can cause harm to a company in many ways. Stop using a site prevents them from making money off of you. Preventing them from actively making money off of you while you’re still using the site actively takes money away from them. It is double sided sword because you’re also not actively supporting that content creator. However, if they don’t have another platform to post on, you can instead buy merch, donate, or simply help the algorithm boost their content by watching their content.
I don’t disagree with you. YouTube should no longer be a viable business. Something else should step in and rival them. But since that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, I’ll be happy running adblocks, and letting them not recoup their server and operation costs from me.
Just from what I found, swamps are wetlands with woody vegetation being what DOMINATLY inhibits it. So if it’s mixed, find out what there is more of. If it’s 50/50, I guess the universe collapses.
And a wetland with a neutral ph is just called a neutral wetland.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Does anyone know of any kid-friendly "horror" games out there for children ~7 years old?
3·2 years agoHello neighbor might be good. I enjoyed the first one, the rest not so much. But I imagine a young kid would love it.
You might already be aware, but if not, you should look at the wikipedia page for states of mater.

Why wouldn’t you use Karen…?
