At this point I’m just accepting that we’ll have to sit through 3 bad shows to get 1 good one. I guess I’m okay with that as long as they keep cranking them out.

Yeah brown stage makeup does not equal blackface. Blackface is a white person playing the role of a human of another race, and perpetuating a racial stereotype. MISSA GORIGHTRY!!!
There are some racial overtones to some of the Trek alien races though. They used to use white actors for Klingons in TOS but they would give them Fu Manchu mustaches and a yellowy orangey skin tone. They were sneaky and devious. Now they use black actors a lot for Klingons and they’re big brutes. The Romulans of TNG look more Asian now, and guess what! They’re sneaky and devious!
None of this is blackface and a lot of it is just me doing pattern recognition on weak signals. Nine of it is over the line.

When Brent Spiner went hard he was fuckin scary. Has he ever starred in a horror flick or anything like that?

It’s all about the Overton window.
While Star Trek TOS was far outside the Overton window for its time, it’s now decades later and multiple generations of people got to know it during a period when its content was entirely within the Overton window for their current time.
These people are still wrong to complain, I’m just pointing out how they get confused: they grow up never seeing old Trek challenge the current Overton window limits, and then a new Trek show comes out that DOES, and they think it’s “suddenly” political.

Hell yeah. I love the way Trek makes people like this piss and squeal and moan.

Point is taken but especially as they grow, challenges become more unique to their personality. Every baby shits and feeds much the same way. How do you instill good values and habits in a 10 year old? Depends a lot on the 10 year old.

Who the hell are any of us?

I didn’t understand the math in your second paragraph. Could you explain again? I don’t have any prior familiarity with shift planning.

Shorter shifts can mean more rested people, but it can also mean more handoffs between this shift and next shift, which means more disruptions and more opportunities for miscommunication and mistakes. I hear this is why nurses have such long shifts: because it’s been shown that patients actually die abnormally often around shift changes.

Exactly. A lot of those episodes were like little stage plays. Imagine entertaining your audience with just a good story! Those were the days.

It gets tired though. And it inevitably puts humans on a pedestal as the thing the robot aspires to be, the thing the Vulcan needs to learn to embrace, the thing 7of9 needs to get back to…

That’s a dumb comparison but I’m all for longer seasons. TNG had like 20 something episodes per. I’m even okay if they aren’t all JJ Abrahms cinematic quality. Bring back cheap TV!

You’ll pick any old chance to grind that axe, eh?

It’s putting meat in your body. I mean come on.

Definitely pansexual. She will dominate all, not just men and women.

I never thought about this before but when you go on a game show you probably sign away any hope of suing them for your rightly-owed winnings when you get the answer right but they tell you you’re wrong. I guess on FF there isn’t really a concept of “right.” Just “survey says…!”

Is that what we’re calling it now?

What?
You broke your little sausage.
