Simple Living@slrpnk.net•What does simple living means to you? What are your ressources on the topics?
2·4 months agoI use to think this way but after learning about decluttering method, I realised there was two different things :
- decluttering as “throwing away stuff I don’t care enough for, while keeping buying and acquering stuff I don’t care enough about”
- decluttering as “evaluating what I truly need in my life and accepting that things that are getting dust and rust in my house are not less wasted as if I get them out, while changing the way I consume so that the waste of our society doesn’t creep in my house anymore”.
So many people are saying decluttering and mean throw away but learning about decluttering made me change the way things enter my house much more that it help me get it of other. But the mind set of “it is wasted even if if is inside your wall” was a big realisation to me.

2·3 months agoTo me it means opting out of the hype cycles and rat races that the media pushes
I also find this important. These days in don’t watch anything recent in films and movies. I find old ones that are not talked anymore, I rewatch the one I already know and love and I’m really proud of how I decorrelated my media consumption from algorith recommandation. It made my live quieter, my watching experience more divers and less rushed. I still got a long way to go before optiong out the hype cycle but that’s a big win for me.

I find there is a need for digital minimalism in simple living. Or at least to not keep with the digital maximalism that is pushed to us in today society.

3·8 months agoThank you for sharing.
That’s brave to keep a simple lifestyle when fame and money suddently come.
Really, the joys of life are very simple. Having a couple of cats around the house, a quiet life, dabbling in watercolors and woodblock printing . . .
He’s one of us (^_^)

Simple Living@slrpnk.net•15 Simple Living Tips for Less Stress and More Freedom
4·8 months agoI disagree. The article could have been more brief but I found every point to be good. Simplifying your wardrobe to pieces you do wear and you could wear together doesn’t make it boring – I speak from experience, but more practical.
Routines and automation are also very good. They reduce greatly mental load and help physically to manage efficiently tasks that always come back.
I don’t really agree with the idea of “saying no to social situation for your own good” but I guess it could be useful to people in an overly extrovert culture that tend to overbook and exhaust themselves, especially if the activities they do are payed ones. That advice doesn’t fit in my life at all but maybe in someone else.
EDIT: spelling errors

They are really pretty sometimes but do not deserve the time spend dusting. Unfortunately clutter can take many other forms including things that seems useful but are not deserving our time or energy either.
