124·4 months agoI feel like we’ve been having the same conversation for 20 years. Meanwhile the linux family of operating systems is now the most widely deployed in the world.
Not sure what your goal is but to make it so nothing can be exexuted in there you can put /home on its own filesystem and mount it with the “noexec” option.

I totally agree with that. Many meals involve no cooking at all. Its just that I thought this forum was about cooking.

4·6 months agoA while ago I did this by making a custom wallpaper with a box on it and set the capture region to the box.
If you ran this as a non-root user then you didn’t move any system files you just made some copies. Delete the new copies and you should be fine.

The typical user uses whatever is preinstalled when the get the hardware.
My father-in-law wrecked his windows pc with malware over and over so I bought him a Wow PC https://www.mywowcomputer.com/ and he loves it. I don’t think he has any idea its running linux.

9·8 months agoI never login with the root account. Not even on the console. You don’t want everything you do running as root unless it is required. Otherwise it is much easier for a little mistake to become a big mess.
What does this have to do with linux? You can run that stuff on FreeBSD and go take out your misplaced frustrations on their forum just as well…
