You could take a look at: https://github.com/aclements/notmuch
If you use emacs, you can set up gnupg integration for easy encryption and decryption of files.
I would also read up on expiration of keys, and how you can export (backup) and import a key. The latter can also be useful if you want to use the same key on multiple devices.
i just mean the one schizo mentioned
i have a 2017 lg 5k monitor (same goofy software trick) that works with ubuntu x11

Open Source@lemmy.ml•A rewrite of antennapod in kotlin with modern technologies.
1·2 years agoI set up nextcloud via docker on a raspberry pi and installed gpodder sync there. That is working for me.

0·2 years agoYes I understand that, but ‘pretty much’ is not ‘entirely’, so I am looking for confirmation.

Linux@lemmy.ml•How to keep all email locally in a useful format that can be searched across devices?
3·2 years agoI havent looked into these other formats because maildir works for me. I can saxe local backups, remoxe mail from the serveg, and even put it back later. All plain text.

3·2 years agoLook into isync / mbsync in combination with maildir utils (mu/mu4e) or notmuch.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What is the differences between "man" and "info" command
16·2 years agoCan you provide any source that it was created or initiated by what you call ‘a crazed bunch of emacs zealots’, or that the goal was to ‘unsurp the rightful position of “man”’. Quite bold statements that are unlikely to be true imho.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are the best solutions for extending Wi-Fi range in a big, old house with thick walls? I rent, so I'd rather avoid adding any cables.
39·2 years agoIf the power lines are good, you can fairly easily extend your network with ethernet over powerline adapters:
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Powerline-Adapter-Ethernet-Passthrough/dp/B0778Y6K6N
You plug one unit into an outlet close to your router and connect it to your router with an ethernet cable. You plug the other unit in in any other room in your house and connect it with ethernet to a computer, a second router, or any other device that has an ethernet port.
I still use it and there are still plenty of knowledgeable people who reply reasonably fast.
