Science@mander.xyz•Scientists have been studying remote work for four years and have reached a very clear conclusion: “Working from home makes us thrive”

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What’s something you own that has truly paid for itself?
11·2 months agoI LOVE them. Work with them a lot of my time, they signal that I want to be left alone and I also can just not listen to my colleagues yapping

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What happened that caused you to call emergency services for the first time?
3·2 months agoMy then boyfriend had trouble to breathe and was feeling restless/nervous. Originally we wanted to drive to the doctor but a few steps out of the house and he said that he had to sit down. He could not stand up again, so I called. Turns out it was tachyarythmia absoluta, his heart was all out of its rythm. Not deadly but feels eery and not healthy in the long run. We had luck and after quite some time it started beating normal again, if that had not been the case the doctors wanted to “restart” it manually, meaning by shock.

Science@mander.xyz•Genetic evidence that our brains make new neurons in adulthood may close a century-old debate
6·5 months ago“some adults may not generate new neurons at all.”
The article itself is so interesting and gives hope! But I am very curious for why some adults don’t seem to form new neurons.

1·7 months agoI keep back any feelings in arguments, most interactions and also intense situations. Makes me loose a lot of arguments because I almost freeze and I appear as a person which distances from others. On the other hand I am able to keep calm in a lot of professional situations and act deescalating.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL humans are the only animal with a chin. We aren't sure why.English
5·1 year agoGreat, now I have a scenario in my head where one early human delivers a punch and dies of having not the right hands and the other dies because no chin. Also: Imagine our fists if there had been more habsburgs.
->Enter Thesis defense. Scream “Your thesis sucks!”. You or your thesis now have to fight me
Tbh this scenario sounds way better to me than asking detailed questions about methodology or the results. But somehow I want to keep my job.
