1·2 years agoI only have 1 ultra wide monitor. It’s slightly less screen space than 2 monitors, but it’s enough, and I like the simplicity of it.

You’re not kidding. The comments are so much worse than I was expecting.
If a subject is a scientific passion of yours, you don’t dismiss good questions, you welcome them.
You start by asking questions. If you’re wrong you’ll find out, if you’re right you’ll expose something.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Can you tell excel sheets which were created using a pirated version of MS Office?English
191·2 years agoWhy isn’t the company paying for it? Anyways, you could just export it to a different format and then back to Excel depending on which features you’re using. But also, I think this is being paranoid. Microsoft isn’t the NSA

Most jobs are terrible at distinguishing between requirements, responsibilities, and nice to haves. Most requirements are actually responsibilities which means you’ll need to learn those skills but don’t need to already know them. As long as you think you can pick them up you should be fine.
Holy fuck, we have a railroad tie retaining wall for the bank in our back yard, but that’s keeping the bank from sliding towards the house, not for keeping the house up, and still, it’s not even holding much back. I’d never trust that for anything critical. No way that would ever be approved today.
As I get older I think I get less confident in others faster than I get more confident in myself.
