Linux@lemmy.ml•Is there a way to connect multiple desktops and treat them as one system?
1·9 months agoDo I need to have elevated network permissions to do that? I don’t have admin access on my WiFi network and it is shared with a lot of people.

1·9 months agoThe hardware switch looks promising. Are there any decent ones for under $50 out there or are they usually a big investment?

4·9 months agoI’m thinking use it to host a Minecraft or matrix server. I’m not expierenced with networking so nothing super advanced.
Might change if you get a VPN and change servers. I’m assuming that the suggested accounts are based on location.
I completely forgot about repositories in F-Droid. This is very helpful, thank you.
I’m curious, why do you use that over a VPN?
Same. Seems like YouTube is back on their anti VPN and frontend spree which will inevitability have a workaround and then they’ll be at it again. It’s cyclical at this point.
I’ll look into it. Thanks.
Edit: it’s not on f-droid :/
Wait, what? How does that work?
You don’t actually have to have a beefy computer to self host. I know with deepseek there’s a 1.5b model which is optimized for low end hardware. I self hosted it on a desktop from 2012 and it worked alright. 8gb RAM, i5 processer, quad core. Was the GPU usage high? Yep. Still worked tho.
LMDE is rock solid. I’ve been using it for a while and It Just Works.
Do you know if there’s a difference in the frequency of releases of the f-droid version and the play store version?
I’m in the US. I wonder if there’s any drawback to using an Australian provider. Like, will it get flagged or something?
I don’t get why they don’t just make it a paid service entirely. Seems odd that email providers like to do that.
Do they compare similarly in regards to privacy?
Care to elaborate?
