What interests me is the terror threshold. People are just so much more, including me, afraid of electric motors vs ICE per kw.

7·1 year agoPicard TNG: I allowed myself to be abducted by aliens, spent two days forced to defend myself with an alien against a monster, refused all offers to just go home, and dealt with his babbling about Tamak and Jiled at Tongra. All because I recognize that peace and corporation between species is much more important compared to my life. I understand that I am not god and I don’t make a decision who lives and dies. I have faith in the inherit goodness and rationality of sentient life so even if I don’t understand why they are doing something I know they have a good reason. I am an explorer and an ambassador of peace.
Picard Nemesis: I am going to drive around on a planet and if some alien, possibly just defending their home, growls at me I will shoot them with a gun. Then leave their corpse there making zero effort to understand why they even attacked me. I am a thug who only understands how to kill effectively. Send me into battle and I will make sure there are no survivors.

3·1 year agoIt’s funny I was talking to the entire novel fanbase about a month ago and told him “well I dont hate all of Dune, the original David Lynch movie was excellent” and told me to get out. Haha

4·1 year agoIt’s weird how the show just vanished. Even without all the sequels and prequels Star Wars would still have been endlessly referenced for decades after the 2nd movie. BSG is the cultural equivalent of a night of heavy drinking.
I remember binge watching it. I remember talking to people about it but nothing this past decade

2·2 years agoI mentally nicknamed them the twins. Two guys who worked together with their two drills. Each had a double sized DeWalt battery and another spare double sized. Last time I saw them was 2016. So yeah you got an acedotal backing you up.

I have an item that costs me 40 to buy. I sell you the item for 200. I get a hundred now and a hundred when you get the item. If I fill the order now I get my 100. However if I wait a year I get an interest free loan on the 40 bucks. Maybe I push you off for 10 years. I not only get the 100 you owe me I also doubled that 40. If I am a big company I can pull this off, if I am a one man operation I can’t. Guess who gets hired for these projects. Hint it isnt Jeff’s gutter repair.
And that is just fixed priced contracts. You can imagine the horrorshow of open ended ones.
