Is this just a signature check when installing? Could it be bypassed by getting your dev cert and just signing everything you want to install? Things like obtainium and fdroid could even have a “load your own cert” option and automate this.

I got my own domain. It’s still a ton of work because you have to switch everything, but once you’ve done this you will be independent: if you dislike your current provider you can make a copy, switch providers and every account keeps working.
Now my old Gmail accounts redirect everything to my new email and this way I can switch whatever I forgot.
This is my exact setup, too. It works without any problem using either thunderbird or their web UI.

It’s the kind of thing that the more you think about it the more flaws you find. The stories from the different factions also feel very disconnected, like Skyrim’s. Everything seems to exist in a vacuum).
But don’t take me for my word, if you already have it play the game and see if you enjoy it, that’s what’s important.
The problem with starfield is not technical but that the writing is pretty crappy in general. Technical or feature problems can be fixed (cyberpunk or no man’s sky did it) but the story can’t be extensively rewritten without making it a different game.
