Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What item have you been using on a daily basis for the longest amount of time?English
2·2 years agovery lucky, my KB’s battery died years ago and I never bothered to replace it.
I am eyeing a used Kindle Oasis for a while, but doesn’t really seems to have a reason to upgrade as I still have Paperwhite and Voyage.
P.S I believe the main reason for upgrading the KB is for the lights that all Kindles have now.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What item have you been using on a daily basis for the longest amount of time?English
7·2 years agoI have my first generation Kindle Paperwhite that I still use daily, that is from 12. I don’t think that is the oldest item I have in my possession that I still uses, but it is one that I have right be side me at the moment.
Is actually great since it forces you to learn which saves you much more time in the long run.
It is great when you have time to learn, but when you are trying to troubleshoot while understand basically nothing of the wiki … it is not good.
It is most comprehended, but for newbie it is too comprehensive. Its overwhelming, I tried to troubleshoot why I boot to black screen even the installation said its successful and there’s no error. I saw solutions that want me edit grub, edit xorg … and some other file that I never understand.
I understand the wiki is very good and very important, its just not newbie friendly.

Linux@lemmy.ml•How do y'all deal with programs not supported on Linux?English
2·2 years agoNP, I guess I’ll just have to accept it (I only use it to convert ebooks to KFX format, it seems a bit overkill to have VM Windows just for that.)
Thank you for trying to help.

14·2 years agoOneplus used to be good too,
On that note, Xiaomi also used to be good. In fact, xiaomi’s initial popularity is for the ease of unlocking and rooting. Once it gain popularity, it started to lock down, much like the path OnePlus is on.

57·2 years agoWow, a lot of info here. It is very strange to me to personalify groups/states as one.
Anyways, Israel’s treatment of Palestinians are horrible. I can totally understand Hama’s desire to fight back and struggle, however, what it bascially did was to bring the wrath to innocent bystanders. The people of Palestinians are not all Hamas and not all support of them, yet, they all suffered.
