No worries, in Voyager it’s in Settings and under General and you just toggle the switch to “always use”. If you’re on a PC and using a browser, each browser has reader view in it somewhere but you may not be able to use “always on”. You can always use https://archive.is/ too, copy the website address and paste it there and it’ll typically bypass most pay/login walls.

Most browsers have a “Reader” mode and that allows to bypass many login and paywall prompts. I use Voyager to browse Lemmy and I have to set up to automatically bring up Reader view for all websites, I didn’t even know there was an issue until I saw your comment.

Poor Brownie, I have a rescue too and she’ll be fine one moment and then in a similar state to Brownie the next. When mine gets like that, I take her for a walk and that seems to break the spell so maybe something he likes to try and get his mind on to something else. Sometimes that doesn’t work so I just have to give her some time (usually just over night)
Another option might be trying to introduce your dog to the chain similarly to how people do it with vacuums and other things dogs don’t typically like. Lay it on the ground and encourage any sniffing or other interaction with treats, praise, or some other positive reinforcement so that he begins to associate the chain noise with good things. Eventually, start clattering the chain and continue the praise/treats when he is interacting or not showing fear.
I’m not sure if those ideas will help but it’s the best I got.

I would argue that it was a good show even without all of that but the nostalgia made it more fun for sure. LD had great writers who told interesting stories. And, it could go from strange and campy to highbrow and serious from one scene to the next but they were also telling stories with through lines and arcs and still providing the filler.
To be fair, I haven’t watched Discovery or much Strange New Worlds yet, so I could be off base. But, it seems like Strange New Worlds is trying to thread that needle.

Everyone’s in here arguing and dissecting filler episodes and serialized seasons and I see a lot of good arguments on both sides. But, no one is mentioning a modern Trek series that did a mix of filler episodes and episodic ones, developed characters, and had full season arcs: Lower Decks
Granted, it’s a cartoon so it’s much easier for a deus ex machina or goofy cop-out ending but for 10ish 30 minutes episodes a season, they did a great job of telling modern stories while feeling like Trek ClassicTM
In that context it sounds like they are using the word “sadly” in place of a word like “unfortunately”.
“unfortunately, i’m referring to you.”
“Unfortunately, i think you should suffer and realize what an annoying piece of shit you are.”
Now, as to why it’s sad or unfortunate, I’m not sure. It could be that the person saying “sadly” likes the other person but is upset with them in the moment, or the person saying “sadly” could be trying to soften the blow of a mean comment like the one you used in the example, or they could be saying it’s sad/unfortunate for the person they are talking to.
Just my two cents.

Did we need a new slang term for “boofing”? I guess so.
Please forgive my ignorance but the quote you used suggests a clock running without electricity. The article never mentioned it running without an energy source.
I have a tenuous grasp of physics so you could definitely be correct. Can someone with more education on this topic answer if photons can act as an electric current in this experiment?

Thanks for the informative answer. The fact that navy ships have barbers is what made me think of the question in the first place. I kind of assumed they might have a barber on starships since they have bartenders and other service personnel but I just couldn’t remember it being brought up.

For some reason these pictures of Janeway made me wonder about barbers/stylists on starships. I understand that they would be on various space stations and planets. But, Voyager was trapped in the Delta Quadrant for 7 years, who did their hair?
Forgive me if this is answered in some series somewhere, most of my Star Trek knowledge ends somewhere around Voyager season 3.

Is that you Beldar?
I know he’s not the only one but the exploitation of salary workers is insane to me. I’m a PM at a niche contracting company, I’m hourly and 40 hours is full time. I’ve had conversations with my boss about going salary and told him that it’s still only 40 hours a week.
I’m still hourly and I work overtime occasionally but you better believe I’m getting paid time and a half for any time over that 40 hours. And if I even touch my work phone while I’m on vacation, I’m billing those hours.
I thought he was a vegetable. At least at the end of his life.

I’m pushing 40 so I’m not young but I’ve actually been buying more games lately thanks to being patient and not rushing out to buy AAA games along with switching from console to PC, gotta love Steam sales. I just bought two games I’ve been wanting to play for $30.

I haven prescription sunglasses. Generally I don’t wear them inside, occasionally I’ll forget that I have them until after I’m in the store though. My eyesight without glasses is terrible so I leave them on. Sorry if I look like an asshole but I would have trouble navigating my way and finding what I need without them.
I understand the sentiment and yes, just like everything else, capitalism has turned death into a money making racket at the expense of the average person.
I live near a cemetery currently and was raised near a different one, they make great neighbors. Quiet and the one near me now is also a wildlife refuge so I can’t call that wasted space. Yes, it’s privately owned but it’s open to the public. Also, I work in historic preservation and love working in and exploring cemeteries.
In the end, I just love the blend of history, architecture, and nature in one place.

Left when the 3rd part apps got shut down. Stayed because of quality apps and no ads.

Zoe Saldana should be in the conversation
