US officials have spoken with their Israeli counterparts and found the Israelis have no long term plan. They’ll hit Gaza and then have no plan for after that. It won’t solve the longterm problems or make peace any easier. It’s just a Pyrrhic victory they’re going for by this point.

That’s the thing, one precipitates the other and their talking points start to converge.
