Bad times for science intelligence with Trump

You shut your mouth. This is America! We like our guns loud, our cars broken down, our food fried, and our presidents oooooold. If you didn’t grow up playing with one of these, you simply aren’t fit to be president in this country!

I had a huge scholarship of about 70% that I was incredibly proud of. I STILL came out with debt about 670% more than my father without any assistance at all. And that’s adjusted for inflation too! I’m ancient now so the price I paid is way cheaper than the poor bastards now. It’s insanity.
I absolutely love horror movies and have a long list of fantastic ones but not very many of them actually scared me. Most of them have been named already but two I didn’t see were The Babadook (2014) and surprisingly a Netflix movie called His House (2020) was actually awesome. One of my favorites in the last few years.
All I can think about anytime I see this picture now is the fact that the crazy geoguessr guy was able to find that exact tree on Google maps.

I mean I’d argue there’s some serious room to help out the consumer since the price of cars has been outpacing inflation pretty handily since around 2014 (and been beating it into a bloody pulp since 2020). There is some insanely obvious price gouging going on when the average price of a new car in 2024 is over 49k. There is room for BOTH higher wages and at least semi reasonable car prices for the American consumer. In my eyes if you clearly aren’t willing to help me as an everyday clearly struggling American today, then goooo right ahead and kiss my ass as I buy foreign if it’s cheaper.
Yeah but I’m pretty sure that’s just cause the sun is upside down over there or something.

The end reads like a bad Amazon review or something and it cracks me up.

This gets my vote. Runs in my family and I’ve seen it first hand a ton of times by now. It is absolutely heart wrenchingly terrible. Not looking forward to that one bit.

Behold and bask in the glory of working from home! Here, all your free time can actually be spent free! No more alt-tabbing to a random Excel spread sheet or dumbass email everytime the floor boards outside your crap ass cubicle squeak. No more desperately searching for mildly enjoyable activities that are only slightly conspicuous when viewed from over your shoulder. Revel in a world where if you bust ass and finish what you need to you are actually rewarded with the free time to cuddle your dog, take a nap, binge stardew valley, or just do absolutely nothing.
The fact that it is for this exact reason working from home is hated by old farts is so unbelievably frustrating it’s difficult to put in words. I know they like to word it differently like “lack of productivity” or “lowered team dynamic” (which have both since been repeatedly disproven by what little research we have) or some crap but we all know they just can’t stand not knowing exactly what we’re doing at all times. It honestly feels like they’re just irritated that workers are genuinely happy for once.

If it’s a skill/competitive game I totally get watching. Like if I like basketball I’m gonna watch Steph Curry or an NBA game cause I’ll learn how awesome people play the game. If I liked valorant or something i could totally see watching the top pros (or a really high level YouTuber) or comp matches from tourneys and stuff.

I feel like this is pretty much the path the large majority of YouTubers take. They gain a following. Stay consistent over the years. Slowly grow. And after a while people just watch because that’s what they’ve always done for years. The person could post a video of them just like peeling a potato and plenty people would still watch just cause.

This is the main reason I have not had children. I am almost 100% guaranteed to get Alzheimer’s in the pretty near future. Having watched countless of my family members go through the absolutely heart wrenching process of Alzheimer’s progression, I can’t in good conscience have children (so far anyway, I’m not 100% on it) for two reasons:
I don’t want to put them through the grueling process of caring for, and dealing with someone dying from Alzheimer’s
While it’s not guaranteed obviously, I don’t want to doom a child to a very very good chance of getting Alzheimer’s at some point in their lives.
There is of course a chance for a treatment to be developed but they’ve been saying that for decades and haven’t really come up with much of anything so far.
I’d say they do them justice to some degree no? I quite enjoyed the first movie, it changed some stuff from the book for sure but I feel like it captured the same feel for the most part and does the story justice. Admittedly, the lost world was a bit of a mess as they combined some stuff from different books and changed the ending for the worse I’d say but Ive seen much worse adaptations in the theatre.
