I uploaded the picture… yet it didn’t show on my end

I assume it’s because they have less jaw strength, or maybe it’s because they haven’t been ground down by life yet… But whoever did the design process that said, cute as fuck puppy, let’s make the teeth mad sharp really wanted to mess with us.
Like I don’t remember my baby teeth or my “adult teeth” being so sharp…
Yeah but dinosaurs didn’t exist because the Bible only kinda mentions them.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL Prisoners in the US are part of a hidden workforce linked to hundreds of popular food brandsEnglish
7·3 months agoThe question to me is how could we fix it. I believe prison should be about herabilitation, but overall I’d say most of the population does not. Someone gets a DUI, robs a store, commits fraud, gets in a fight, beats their spouse, stabs someone, murders someone… whatever it is. People say they should be imprisoned, many say they should never be let out especially on multiple offenses. Most of the prisoners take the jobs because it is used as a “privilege.”. You have to have good behavior to be eligible, then you choose one if you want with benefits that slowly “work off” hours of their sentences. (If it’s available). Certain jobs pay more time off their sentences than others, and some will try to get into those jobs. Yet we will have people who scream that they shouldn’t be let out after 5 years because they “insert crime here”.
IF leaving their imprisonment and performing tasks in the world around people with good behavior isn’t a step to proving they are re-integratable into society, what is? I would say they need a hell of a lot more therapy, access to actual healthcare, psychologists, and resources that allow for easy integration back into society so they can find gainful employment, cut ties with their past and land on two feet to be able to move forward without extreme struggles that bring them back in.
Our country doesn’t vote for that, because those same things aren’t available for citizens on the street who didn’t commit crimes yet. And they think they are better and don’t deserve less opportunities than those who did something illegal.
So I guess what I’m saying is the first step to reforming our prisons is reforming our healthcare system… And wage inequality… And fuck… It’s not going anywhere

What Asus one do you use? Anything you like about it or would rather see better done?
Yeah, when I hook a PS5 controller up to Mint for games I’ve tried to use the touchpad for scrolling and it leaves me grabbing my mouse instead until I launch the game. I still prefer keyboard mouse for most games, but there have been a couple I like the controller for
Ah I just meant if you were trying to move the cursor across the screen when doing something like installing non-steam games or just doing w.e else in the OS outside cursor locked gaming, if that was when you found the pad to small. Can’t imagine she will do much else other than email, web searches, and maybe ebooks? I wonder if the 2 hand design makes it decent for that maybe. Otherwise I assume it’d be 90% games for her
Yeah I was thinking the 32gb of ram would future proof it a bit with a good GPU/CPU because idk what games she’ll want to play 2-3 years from now that come out, and I’m not one to continuously swap out devices. Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into those sites. When you say you use your track pad a lot, what do you mostly use it for? Are you having to lift your finger and keep going back to scroll across the screen size?
Also if you don’t mind me asking have you have any issues with the immutable part? Should I just set her up with network storage coming from one of my media servers? Or have you not run into reboots losing data you needed? I don’t really want to set up her up with a need to use a corporate drive service. (She might not need it because normal personal data shouldn’t wipe, just system files right?)

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•GE-Proton 10-8 brings fixes for DOOM Eternal, Wuthering Waves and WaylandEnglish
3·5 months agoIs there an easy way to depict which version of Proton you should use for games based on age or even a site that maybe knows which games work best with which versions? I’ve found experimental to work on some, while not working at all the other day when I tried CounterStrike 2. Proton 9 worked fine with that though. I’ve seen some suggestions on installing with a different version than when running a game, but I never know if they just tried going down the list and then just stopping at one that worked.
Edit: Also in something like Lutris, if it works using the standard wine configuration, I usually don’t alter it to proton, should I be for better performance?

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Very positively surprised by how seamless the switch from Windows wasEnglish
1·5 months agoI’ll have to look into this, thanks for the suggestion. Been installing games with Lutris, then if they don’t work I try all the proton versions there, then try non-steam games and still run into some that I just give up on. Having a mounted ISO on games that ask for a disk on startup I haven’t figure out a way to get Lutris/Steam to recognize yet. Hopefully this will help.
I have found that games like The Sims, and Stardew Valley are the most consistent at working easily. Which is good, spouse enjoys those

Yeah I have a couple of them and 2 poe injectors so I figured I’d try that way
