Personally I think any new sci-fi should follow a more hard sci-fi path like The Expanse. Even though they dropped the “hard” part pretty quick.
I’m so sick of alternate universes, time travel as a gimmick and not the focus, and basically MAGIC BUT IN SPACE.
If you want to be charitable it sounds like they wanted to make a show for people who hadn’t seen a combined 15+ seasons of TV.
Honestly, Stargate has had so many seasons, rises in tension and capability of villains and heroes, that the only way forward I can really see is a full reboot.

Isn’t Transport Fever 2 still not great and needs work? Might be thinking of another train game.
Honestly if I was the showrunner (my DMs are open!) I’d keep the gates but drop everything else at this point.
Instead of US-owned have the gate UN or secret society run.
Drop the Goa’uld or “fake gods” angle. It’s been done. Let’s get some new mysteries and exploration in. Even having villains not always being “people” would be great. Some of my favourite episodes were with the environmental conflicts of gate travel and space phenomenon.
