Isn’t your phone far more connected to your identity than your car? As in, if your worried about Toyota or Ford tracking your vehicles driving statistics it seems using GPS and wifi and Bluetooth on your phone that also has all your payment info, browsing history, and all your passwords saved defeats the entire purpose of worrying about your car. However, at least your phone gives you a benefit to using it like navigation and music, your car just mines your location data.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do the vast majority of romantic comedies depict people who are wealthy?
91·1 year agoIf you are watching a rom-com about some unrealistic storybook relationship, why wouldn’t you want to watch these people in an equally unrealistic financial situation. People watch them to escape reality, not watch more of it.

202·1 year agoI have yet to meet a person who gives a shit about AI. I have yet to meet a person who has intentionally used AI. It’s all marketing bs and a way to mine our data.

The newly classified creature didn’t mutate as soon as it hatched, it was a chicken inside the egg the whole time.
Is it the mom’s egg or the chicken’s egg I guess is the argument you are making. I call it the chicken’s egg. So the egg came first.
I don’t think the actual logs on slack will go away. Just maybe hosted on a different server owned by a different corporation.
I guess it is hard to imagine an internet company lasting that long mostly because the hasn’t been around that long, it’s only been 31 years since it went public. A year later Amazon was formed. I would bet money Amazon and Google easily make it to 50. Along with many many others. A small, not overly commercialized company like slack would be crazy. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get gobbled up by a mega Corp as the enshitification continues.

You passing out from huffing on a vape is your own, wierd, unique reaction to nicotine due to your own misuse. I can pass out if I huff a glass of water and that would likely kill me. You can slam 20 energy drinks and make your heart explode, you can eat too much food and die, you can drink too much alcohol and get alcohol poisoning. That is all equivalent to someone who apparently has zero nicotine tolerance taking rips on a vape and being mad they got light headed. That is your own fault. That being said, I am totally down with legal weed and illegal nicotine, however, weed impairs your judgment for hours, nicotine only makes you a bit light headed for a minute, and only if you don’t have a tolerance. I say this as I rip my 12% vape with zero effect.
I am an American all aboard the “America has some serious issues” wagon, but dude not wearing ear protection was doing so against every single rule. If he got caught by the wrong person him and his boss would be in deep shit. Everything else you said is pretty accurate though. At least for big cities, the type of place tourists go. Just remember 90% of the country is not there. You visited the worst places in the country. It’s still bad though. It is a dog eat dog country and very little help for the needy. The help that there is takes so many hoops to jump through that some people with any problems just can’t do it and they don’t have any advocates.
If you pull your main breakers and they shut off then they are running through your meter no? Also, your main breakers are probably like 100-200 amps instead of the 15-20 amps that should be on an outlet and it’s wiring. Those outlets are essentially unprotected. Anything goes wrong and it’s death or fire, or both. Are you in north America?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would a world where gravity is a weather condition look like?
3·2 years agoThe expanse goes into some interesting generational changes between people who live on earth, Mars, and in the asteroid belt. Belters are tall and scrawny and when they go to earth they can’t stand and the gravity crushes their bones, extremely painful. The only way they can be there comfortably is in water. I’d imagine different areas with different "weather " would have different types of adaptations and travel wouldn’t be as common/easy.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the most impressive music video you've ever seen?

I feel like it is a story as old as time and not isolated to Boeing. I am pretty sure all companies that are publicly traded have a legal obligation to maximize stockholder return, it’s why most companies go to shit eventually. They may be able to frame making better decisions as an investment into future returns, but they are legally obligated to maximize returns. Boeing just did it while also being propped up by federal contracts where holding them accountable for the decline in quality and changing vendors was above everyone’s pay grade. End stage capitalism combined with good old boy government contracts = astronauts stuck on the space station. Boeing has been a powerhouse of profit for 50+ years before it crumbled, that is the entire adult life of a boomer. And we all know Boomers don’t give a shit about the next generation. So it served its purpose.
Disclaimer: I am in no way educated in business or have any experience. I am just stating my opinion. Back on the site we don’t speak of, usually a generic not relevant comment like this one just meant to join the conversation usually got buried with something relevant ending up at the top. Here it is one of a few comments so I feel obligated to point out that I am just talking out my ass. Remember, reddit went to shit when it became publicly traded and they began trying to maximize shareholder profit, unlike boeing who is propped up by the government, we just left.
