Clippy never had a voice and tbh the one that comes to mind for him is not very easy on the ears. Like downpitched spongebob.

6·2 years agoAcceleration is a bitch. A manned flight would take longer as it would have to cap it’s thrust to 1-1.5G or risk long term effects. Not to mention having to cancel ALLL of that thrust starting at the halfway point.

Technology@beehaw.org•If AI is making the Turing test obsolete, what might be better?English
5·2 years agoYet language and abstraction are the core of intelligence. You cannot have intelligence without 2 way communication, and if anything, your brain contains exactly that dictionary you describe. Ask any verbal autistic person, and 90% of their conversations are scripted to a fault. However, there’s another component to intelligence that the Turing Test just scrapes against. I’m not philosophical enough to identify it, but it seems like the turing test is looking for lightning by listening for rumbling that might mean thunder.

1·2 years agoLooks like the arduboy’s display. Might look for some C++ arduino libraries. Additionally, it never hurts to have gimp/PS skills for stuff like this, and there are likely plugins for both.
To be clear, you too go into a coma when your core body temperature gets low enough, the vibration just staves it off
That was the point. In the books, the bugs had been flinging rocks towards the outer colonies for years, but the attack on Buenos Aires is heavily implied to be an inside job to rally support for an invasion, since they did not have hyperspace tech and no attack had reached the inner worlds, let alone Earth.

472·2 years agoMy favorite thing is to have them define “woke.” When they can’t because it’s only a buzzword to them, I explain it means “waking up” to the idea that you’re not the only human being with a purpose-filled life, that there are others for whom the system is built to deal a bad hand, and that the most ironic part is that 9 times out of 10 the individual I’m speaking to is not on the list of the “system’s chosen.”

Games@sh.itjust.works•Paradox says The Lamplighters League sales were 'a big disappointment,' confirms recent layoffs at developer Harebrained SchemesEnglish
5·2 years agoLook at Battletech. It’s an established IP, sure, but very niche compared to Warhammer, and those sales estimates were blown out of the water. I think it’s more to do with the fact that this game is so much more different in genre and tone than other HBS titles like BT and Shadowrun. They had few of their core fans who were looking for a game like Lamplighters and therefore were basically relying on new fans.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is the purpose of life to be happy?English
6·2 years agoThe purpose of life (imo) is to discover humanity in yourself and what “the best human” means to you. People get their ideas on “the best human” from many inspired examples. The Buddha, Mohammed the Prophet, Jesus of Nazareth, Julius Caesar, or Jimmy Buffet. Some people need no such idols and can form their own understanding of what it means to be human, but all of these scale.
Your humanity plays into the identity of your family, plays into the identity of your city/town, plays into the identity of your region, plays into the identity of your nation, and at the top is the true meaning of life: the culmination of every dream and desire, the moral fabric of our species, and the embodiment of the only such entity in existence to our knowledge. The purpose of life is to find that, reconcile with it, and use the wisdom you gain in doing so to help shape our species into a happy, healthy, and mature civilization, or die trying.
I see a future where China out and out steals the unity backend to publish the CCP spyware flavor of unity.
