You can’t deny, even though it was literally just straight American imperialist propaganda, it was a fun game series. And my lesbian ass definitely had a huge girl crush on Tanya.
I mean, you’re not alone. I got so fed up with ads because it was always junk I needed but couldn’t afford, or shit I already knew existed and had otherwise already acquired with satisfactory results. Not to mention ads following me around. I hated being haunted by a pair of sneakers across four websites.
It’s not paranoia if you’re right, dammit.
Eh. In my experience, DeWalt tends to have more power and punch, and the batteries last longer. Makita’s impact drivers (at least the ones my company got) really just never had the torque to tighten bolts down to the right NM or ft/lb. I needed. They’ll do, I’d rather use an impact driver than nothing. But if I get to pick, I’ll pick a DeWalt.
Command and Conquer?
If we play Red Alert, I call Great Britain!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Human em dash users, are you still afraid of being mislabeled as "AI"?
3·2 months agoBecause they fucking stole it from me! I’ll be damned if I let a machine–intelligent or not–force me into changing the way I, an individual, choose to express myself in my own language!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How afraid are you of talking to strangers in real life on a scale 1-10?
1·4 months agoDepends on the place and the people around.
Pride? 0, easy.
Anti-Trump protest? On my side of the line, easy 2-3.
Need help at the grocery store? Eh. 4. If it ain’t that important, it ain’t that important.
Texas? Inside Austin, 7.
Outside of Austin? 10.
Big sea of red hats like it was a sea of red armbands in Berlin? Fuck that.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Has anyone seen Al Jazeera's Youtube stats?
11·6 months agoThis is true. While I appreciate Al Jazeera’s coverage of Gaza, at the end of the day, they’re a mouthpiece for an autocracy. And their primary media contrast is, well, other mouthpieces for other autocracies.
I hate watching the news. It’s terrorist empires and wannabe empires having pissing contests with each other.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some reasons a person should not visit the USA?
1·6 months agoIt’s 50+ countries in a trenchcoat. Pan-Americanism, in the US context, is laughable at best and absolutely a shambling nightmare at worst. There’s several reasons why our government sucks. But the sheer size of this fucking empire is the top of the list.
Before the end of the century, it’s going to Balkanize hard.

1·6 months agoIt is, wholeheartedly, one of my most favorite shows of all time. It’s one of the ones that shaped me as a human being.
Just try and give the exiting actors and resulting plot hiccups a little mercy. There was a lot happening in the real world for all of them, and some things are more important than television.

This is actual praise, holy hell, I did not expect to see this kind of effort for a comment. I fucking love Lemmy, I hope it stays this good for as long as possible.
This was one of the issues they ran into early in the Clone Wars. In my head, I justified it as a more advanced version of modern video chat software filters. The ones subtly shift your pupils to look like they’re looking at the camera instead of the screen. I think in later episodes, I remember seeing holograms scaled to eye level, and communicators being held at eye level as often as feasible.
But this is obviously retrospective justification, and the reality is probably “idk, it just looked better to the one or two animators who worked on this shot.”

Digital self-defense isn’t about ignoring trackers, it’s about evading and disabling them.

12·10 months agoI appreciate that you are standing for moral dignities like personal privacy. But understand, Google’s entire business model IS surveillance capitalism.
Profits aren’t infinite if the resource is finite. Eventually, they would have to dig the mineshaft deeper, take more material to sell more product. This is what happens when capital is left laissez-faire, it grows more tentacles.

81·10 months agoHi. Lifelong Rebel Scum here.
We can live in harmony with our fellow sci-fi nerds. Both our respective favorites inspire real-world positive change. We have better things to fight over than why Luke and Rey suffer from the same bad writing, or the fact that Paramount has been scrambling to bury Star Trek’s communist roots for decades.
Besides… we can unite over our shared distaste for Warhammer 40K.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•How good is /e/ privacy based LineageOS fork?
1·10 months agoOn the surface. DivestedOS has a whole laundry list of bugs and defects that /e/ hasn’t patched in yeeeeaarrs. Including how many holes their so-called ‘IP scrambler’ actually has.
Your coworkers would be safer with stock. Or Lineage. Or literally anything else.
