Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are the most capitalist things you've heard about?English
9·1 year agoUgh I dunno if I just noticed it but the spread of “only x small payments!” financing for the smallest purchases can’t be a good sign

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you been stolen from?English
5·1 year agoBesides the obvious like surplus labour value being stolen by my boss I’ve been stolen from a couple of times. I had my car broken into once (I accidentally left it unlocked since I had a family emergency to get to), they stole my jacket and some change out of the cup holder. I didn’t really care since I had more tragic matters to deal with at the time and if they needed to steal my jacket they needed it more than me. I was/am lucky enough to have a spare so I really didn’t think much about it. They did leave a half carton of coffee creamer behind though, I was a little confused about that

Science Memes@mander.xyz•Anyone got any cool science tats? Drop them here. 👇👇English
2·1 year agoI work a lot with very dilute solutions, so I got the equation for calculating Parts Per Billion on my arm. The mods actually host it on this site, the link is at the bottom of the page right above the modlog

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst natural disaster you've been in?English
1·2 years agoEither the worsening wildfire smoke blankets (do these have a name aside from just saying its smoky af?), one of the heat domes from recent years, or one of the bouts of terrible snow storms/deep freezes

31·2 years agoI fucking love a good midden, let me dig through that garbage and put together an idea of the lives of those who left it behind

6·2 years agoI love committing voter fraud. Every election day I do a road trip and see how many times I can vote. My apartment is wallpapered in “I voted” stickers 10 deep. I am responsible for every single Bernie Sanders write-in vote in 2020.

2·2 years agoIt’s all performative, if they actually gave a shit they wouldn’t be facilitating it by working AT THE FUCKING WHITE HOUSE

Science@lemmy.ml•Study finds coffee inhibits SARS-CoV-2English
4·2 years agoI’m only half joking when I credit caffeine and cannabis for helping me dodge covid all this time (that I know of, I might’ve had an asymptomatic case but every time I’ve gotten tested it’s been negative). Of course masking and living like a hermit even before covid kicked off definitely helps, but I’ll take the excuse to indulge in my favourite vices

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the most exotic meat you've eaten? How was your experience?English
4·2 years agoFun facts, back in the day people would often move their entire camps to the site of a moose kill rather than trying to transport the body any distance, it was easier to pack up and move everyone than drag a moose through the forest and brush

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Where do you go to get news?English
41·2 years agoAl Jazeera, Telasur, and CBC for the most part, though no where is perfect and all have their blindspots/weaker areas. Plus a bunch of assorted other sources on a lesser basis (BBC, guardian, independent, fox if I want a peek into
brain) and hexbear news megas of course

292·2 years agoWell yea, it’s only propaganda when the people I don’t like do it. Just because what I believe and what I question lines up perfectly with
doesn’t mean anything!

World News@lemmy.ml•Israel's siege of Gaza is illegal, EU saysEnglish
491·2 years agoReally? Your stance is “decolonization sounds complicated, let’s just let Israel genocide millions of people”? As other posters have said, send any dual citizens back to their country of origin, remove settlers from Palestinian land, end the siege of gaza, take down the wall and machine guns, prosecute IDF war criminals, and dissolve the criminal entity that is Israel. Will it be bloodless and free of violence? Of course not, I’m not naive, but the genocide of Palestinians will be much more bloody than any decolonization process

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite spaceship?English
122·2 years agoDefinitely the Soyuz, it’s hard to beat the safest and most reliable spacecraft
If we’re talking fictional I’d say Serenity, I love what’s essentially a tramp steamer in space with little nooks and crannies for less than legitimate cargo

I’ve lost teeth climbing a tree in a stupid way, required stitches after trying to cut myself a slice of pie, and nailed myself in the groin with a ski pole while skiing
