Sometimes simpler is better. Just use some paprika and cayenne for the same flavor and avoid the massive effort.

5·3 months agoVoyager was likely shot on 16 mm film to start and then 1080 digital toward its end, its likely enterprise was always shot on digital but I’m really just assuming. The magic of 35 mm (and even 16) is that if the negatives still exist they can be scanned to 4k (annd probably beyond) and look amazing. If a source media is a 1080 digital file…that’s all ya got (unless you want some extra ai ears on your Mr. Tuvok.

205·5 months agoMayhaps the former young Americans are now aging into, uh… being not young Americans? Mayhaps said former young Americans also don’t have children because this entire county’s culture is all about feeding all the money to 1%ers yacht purchases?
I honestly don’t trust any “adult” who’s my age that doesn’t play viddy games, like what are you into for entertainment? A lamp?
Fighting bears isn’t that common of an encounter. I’d be more worried about deer and coyotes or even a single cougar than the off chance of encountering a bear. They will definitely fuck you up but it’s not like they are starting their day to be like “Imma go murder a human” in the same way other urban-adjacent animals are—I think they just wanna get that sweet sweet pick-a-nic basket.

6·1 year agoIf you’re not into a book it is not some great personal failure to stop reading it. People put reading books on too high of a pedestal, it’s just like any other form of entertainment media and if you aren’t jiving with it you can just go do something else.

2·1 year agocan you give any references to this “trope” and it being “tired” by the time TNG first aired? Just curious what other shows had young brainiacs that so angered audiences to the point that they were fed up with the whole idea by TNG’s premiere.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•What's With the Wesley Hate?
41·1 year agoThere is nothing wrong with the character—it’s just generational hatred of the idea that there could be new star trek content and latching on to weird shit to complain about. Lots of “fans” complained about TNG when it first started airing.
He honestly has a pretty interesting character arc for the era and show he was a part of— being a young princeling, fucking up in school and ultimately realizing that he needed to go his own way and become a The Traveller (over the course of 7 seasons of episodic story telling admittedly so it’s a little woobly).
