I am close to starting this journey. I do have a lot of old movies on old hard drives from the 00s/10s. and was hoping to utilise them.
I do have an old laptop that has little power. It’s just a machine I use for admin.
Would I be better investing In a prebuilt home server?

I have been deliberating this lately. Mainly due to online providers overreaching. I recently bought a small common office product. Click and collect. I ensured to click no comms/marketing. 2 times in the following 4 days I got an email offering an apple subscription from a no reply email address. I had to call and complain to get them to stop and they had the cheek to say they HAD to legally offer me this as it was free perk with my purchase. They didnt see how they could be wrong and tried to convince me this was not marketing and was infact a great deal for me. I asked him if I’d walked in store would I have been forced to somehow take the offer.
I am sick of my contact details and my spending ability being considered fair game.
You give them your money and that’s not enough they always want more.
A tad older. My response was the same as yours. I dream of fixing it but how?
Then I remember so many people voted or walked towards this. A handful of greedy have been pushing this and other humans were happy to enable it, and millions more accept it.
Which leads me to think maybe I am the minority.
I am a visual person. Regardless of platform the uniform delivery style of all videos and shorts is tired. The tropes, the doing it for likes, monetisation, the monotone voice. There is little originality or genuine creativity to it. It could be good but the cycle of garbage combined with the self juicing algorithm makes it really irritating.
I may take a look at this. Also looking for a 360 alternative
I think that maybe you should look at as your earned your ability. It’s deserved. Each and every attempt you persevered.
Some people do it first time. Some people take 10. Don’t compare. Just be proud of all the extra things you can do now.

You haven’t brought age and maturity into this discussion and it’s a big piece of info on scaling the answer. 14 no. 17 possibly.
Secondly there is the other minor to consider. As a parent it is my job to ensure the visiting minor is safe and comfortable so even if my child wants the door closed and I trust them it could still be a no.
There are so many variables here. It’s never a simple yes I would or no I wouldn’t. It’s a parents job to read the room in the literal sense here. You are a parent first before you are a friend and sometimes that goes against a child’s wants in the moment.
I’d also like to see more hobby based ones. Agree on the diy/gardening/recycling and non waste.
I hate Reddit but they were always good for outsider tech stuff like the specific game (e.g sims) community or stremio etc when you just need an answer or a bit of support fixing or configuring something.
Can you get a cheap stocking style mask? I’m considering one of the old style ones like bank robbers used. I’ll get some fake eyebrows and pretend lips. 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t understand many of the product hypes. Why would you pay more to endorse someone’s brand. The cups. Like $50 for a cup. That’s crazy, you still drink the same water out of it.

Grainy vids and bad audio, I’d rather have that authentic effort than the highly polished regurgitated bulsheet narrated with a YouTube voice we see now.
If I see something advertised or pushed by them i immediately question the integrity of the product. I can’t trust them or the brand.

Same always bought my kids Nintendo. I am resistant to the switch 2 and rather proudly my teenager came and told me they are not impressed with Nintendo’s practices and does not want it.
This console is gonna be a hard no from me. If I can’t own my stuff they don’t get my money.
Bamboo sheets are pretty nice. They have weight to them but keep you cool in the summer.
