Just got one–a good, wide-brim, adjustable bucket hat. Shade during the sun, solid protection from the rain, comfortable, and not too difficult to make look decent, if not stylish.
Don’t get me wrong, education, housing, health care etc have all been pretty important too, but hat wins.
One problem with vids like this is the algorithm doesn’t know what it is. So, engaging with the stuff too much will open up some very dumb rabbit holes.

Try on a longer, larger view. For instance, we say “witch hunt, witch hunt” these days, mostly disingenuously, but when was the last time we actually burned one like we used to?
It’s tempting to wish for the world to be made perfect, it’s certainly nowhere near close. But focusing in on only the problems, like a propagandist might want, makes it harder to see the things that are actually good and getting better, and on our ability to actually genuinely change things, or sometimes die trying.
There is no quick, magical solution though. People will always be people, for the foreseeable future.
While it can feel good to cut loose, down this path lies madness. Try to remember, people trying to hurt you want you to feel backed into a corner, that perception causes you to disregard some of your real options.
You are not actually backed into a real corner, though. That perception is an illusion to try to make you lash out and hurt yourself in the long-run. It’s a propaganda technique.
If the truth is really on your side, you can use words to spread it, and convince others to help. The actual truth has to be on your side for this to work though, not just feelings and emotions.

No worries, I wasn’t expecting that to be overly popular. I was thinking it would be a better way to help out in the long term though, instead of this just being about one pet.
I’d go with B, offer her work. Will allow her to keep her dignity. She’s probably not stupid, she likely knows you’re better off than her. Couching it in terms of work for pay allows everything to be normal and on the up-and-up.

It’s evolved. His understanding of anti-science attacks seems to be of those leveled by the older GOP, the ones that only wanted their businesses to be free to make the max amount of money.
However, that same tool of generalized chaos, confusion and eventually, disgust and hatred from that sustained confusion, are exactly how you increase the chances of a fascist strongman rising to power in a place that otherwise wouldn’t have happened. Because it helps make people afraid.
This is a case where the genie has been let out of the bottle by a bunch of fools, and now its out, and we all might pay dearly. With a lot more than cutting of funding and support, we’re sliding towards mass violence, as seen in previous centuries.
I think, when possible, we need to present our evidence for our positions to the public in ways that are as hard to refute as possible. One way is numerically, particularly with nice visualizations included.
Because honestly, they just don’t believe us. The problem has continued to worsen, and now people have not just opponents, but enemies. The preferred approach for actual, honest-to-god enemies is usually destruction, because emotions start running things. We can still appeal to rationality, but we need things that are as hard to distrust as possible. Using narrative was a great idea 10 years ago, but has been losing effectiveness.
Can we quantify potential benefits for the things we do, in ways someone with only a HS level of education can understand?
I tried Soylent for a little bit. It was okay. I think they work well as a once-in-awhile kinda thing, or in particularly strenuous or limiting conditions, but relying on them for any real length of time would be a little sad imo.
I’d still look for some for a solo road trip of any sort, they’re preferable to most road food.
Sounds delicious. I love cooking large portions and freezing later. One of my favorites is kinda a bastard chicken cacciatore I got from food network ages ago, some fireman cooked it for all his buddies in the firehouse. So, huge portions if you follow the recipe as-written, which I don’t recommend unless you know a lot of firemen or something.

It’s good though, a fairly mild variation. I usually toast the tomato paste for some better depth, and serve mine with angel hair.
My favorite workhorse is just a large, enameled piece of lodge logic in that exact same color. Absolutely love it.
For the record, the US has been oil independent for around the past 10ish years or so, since our fracking boom. We’re still vulnerable to global price fluctuations, but when it comes to strategic necessity, we don’t actually need overseas oil, and probably never will again.
So, it was fairly accurate propaganda at one point, about 20ish years ago perhaps, but things do tend to change given enough time.
You can’t escape the inter-connectedness of human body systems. Improve something somewhere, something else gets changed too. This is why being a doctor is so hard.
So, it’s only true from a 19th century understanding of science. Which a lot of people admittedly prefer, because of how simplistic it was. It’s a lot easier to feel like you understand things if you just ignore all the complex and hard parts.
