Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do some people defend the billionaires and capitalism?
83·1 year agoBillionaires are like everyone else. That’s the reason I don’t look up to any. They’re just as human as I am. No amount of money can ever make them anything else or anything more. They have access to an absurd degree, and they can afford far, FAR more, but they will never escape their base human nature. Almost anyone can be a billionaire. Some current billionaires prove that every moment they open their mouths.
Companies**. Also, the word they’re looking for is hypothesis, not theory.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL that some people do not have an inner voice and think in different nonverbal ways.English
151·2 years agoI have both an inner voice and strong imagery. I cannot imagine any other way. I assume that people on the opposite end would see my mind as massive chaos though.
I was going to rip on taking a cartoon too seriously, but then I remembered getting annoyed at superwhy, which is an ABCs show for toddlers. They had an episode where they landed on Saturn, and it was sandy. I had a to give my then 2 year old an impromptu lesson on what a gas giant was and that her favorite show was fucking wrong. I was so irritated that an education show would do that lol.

2·2 years agoFinally beat Peaks of yore. Or rather, I saw credits. I still have three mountains to climb, the last of which I’ll probably never bother with.
For those curious, peaks of yore is a mountain climbing game taking place in the late 1800s. It’s not a frustration machine like getting over it, but it is challenging and occasionally unforgiving. You play in first person and you spend a lot of time looking up at your hands, but it really works and gameplay feels tight. If you fall, it was your fault.
At the start you have beginner peaks. Small hills more or less. Then you take on bouldering, and eventually the advanced peaks which take longer and are much more difficult. Beat enough and you get a ticket north to face a several mile high peak that takes hours to summit. You don’t need to summit everything to see credits.
If any of you are up for something of a unique game that can make you feel like a climbing god on an advanced peak summit, give peaks of yore a shot.

2·2 years agoMinishoot adventures. It’s a Zelda inspired shmup that really impressed me. It looks a bit simple, and feels familiar, which is normally a downside but is executed well here. I ended up getting all the achievements which is something I never really care to do.
Seems like it’s a touched up fake. The white duck head one is especially obvious. https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/52975/does-the-yulan-magnolia-flower-bud-look-like-a-bird
Looks fake as hell. I’d be more afraid of falling for stuff like this. Cute as a Photoshop challenge though
If Kurtzman did anything with it, that trek is likely garbage and ignorable. If someone else wrote and directed without Kurtzman sticking his mystery box horseshit in it, I’ll give it a shot. Lower decks is great. Strange new worlds is sometimes fantastic, and sometimes very fucking stupid, which brings it in line with trek in general, so I like it.

Amazing powers of camouflage and body manipulation are the consequences of sin? I best get sinning like a mother fucker then!
