Ironicly, the pixle is actually a good choice, because you can put GrapheneOS on it. Its a deGoogled android project with a very security focused dev team behind it.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•Well this explains why I like both.
1·4 months agoOh, just watch Lower Decks and laugh. There are plenty of writers who “Get” Star Trek, they just arn’t making the big budget movies, they are doing the silly side projects.

I was disapponted at that, I spooled up one of those instances a few months back and its federated and is magical. If only I could convince my family to move away from that old group text grumbles in person who cosplays as a sysadmin

9·8 months agoSome old floppy disks like the OG version would be a nice novelty, even if noone used them. EvE online did a thing like that for its 20th birthday box. They included a floppy disk with some old game data on it (I think it was part of an ARG, but I just had fun trying to read the data)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•are you permanently banned off reddit? or do you just like lemmy more?
2·8 months agoDito, still have RIF installed on my phone so every time I click a reddit link im reminded of what they did with a 403: forbidden error. I like it better over here anyway, nicer people who give a shit and fewer bots (or atleast fewer obvious ones).

181·10 months agoI find this personally insulting and hate this mentality. If the company isnt footing the bill, ill keep current and progress my skills how ever I like. In my case, homelab, which while not paying someone for a fancy piece of paper, has usefull skills and real services.
Ahhhhh… People who think like this are why the Peter Principal exists…

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•What would win? 🚀
12·11 months agoMy nerd herd have done this sci-fi “my dad can beat up your dad” scenerio a lot and we usually come to similar conclusions, and they all depend on the scale of whats involved and the objective
Trek wins the tech side and individual ship preformance, but if there an objective (other than disabling the other force) then Star Wars wins because their FTL is the best in most all of sci-fi and they would out logistics Trek. Even though they arnt included in the prompt, if the objective involved a ground team or invasion 40k would win (space marines are basicly walking tanks compared to other settings, and there are tons of them), and barring Master Chief being involved, the Halo setting sorta is behind the 8-ball compared to most other settings.
You must be fun at parties.
And a statistically large number of those people that we sent up there were from Ohio, one can assume because they were trying to get as far away from Ohio as possible.
You could have picked any other titan from that game, and you went with the one that looks like a mushroom… (I would have gone with the Tempest, because of Clear Skies)
Also we dont have defined dates for when the game takes place. We know its atleast ~15k years in the future, but anything beyond that is fuzzy at best.
0 Degrees Farenhight = very cold, 100 Defrees Farenhight = very hot
0 Degrees Celcius = very cold, 100 Degrees Celcius = dead
0 Degrees Kelvin = dead, 100 Degrees Kelvin = also dead…
