I purposefully slightly tilt most my wall hangings. I like watching guests squirm when they mention it and I do nothing

Politics@beehaw.org•Number of Americans looking to live abroad jumps by 1,500% after Trump wins election
13·1 year agoI’ve been setting myself up to move out of country for a few months now. So I’ve been planning since before the election but it used to be “if I make it cool if not I’ll find my path here” and now it’s more “I’m getting out of here with or without a plan”. I know I should want to stay and fight but my body is aging, I’ve been fighting for so long, my trans ass is one of the first on their kill list. My last offer to help the people around me is I’ve got the savings to keep two people alive a couple years so maybe someone I know can escape with me

3·1 year agoFrostpunk has such weird balance. I found it to be an extremely difficult game until a few core loops clicked. Then it was suddenly completely trivial and I lost interest

Games@sh.itjust.works•Survey says half of developers consider VR market on decline or stagnationEnglish
6·1 year agoA VR mech game could be so baller. Also a remake of Black and White would work well. But generally yeah it’s just not a great medium for most games and while we have a lot of promising hardware we’re struggling to find ways to use it intuitively
I think after the bubble breaks it does down a bit well see some groups take their time to build really functional stuff. We don’t have good standards on how to interact in VR and it shows. We don’t have enough data on how to make people less motion sick. Basically the hardware is there but the software isn’t and that’ll take more time than we’ve been giving it, imo
Realistically though I think the fundamental limits on how you can interact in VR means while there may be a strong niche market, I don’t expect it to be a mainstream thing. Even if the prices drop a lot and the headsets get smaller there’s still a lot working against them
Wait this is giving me a crisis. What marvel movie? I’m just learning it isn’t Biden x.x
When I got surgery a few months ago there was a person who made rounds with an emotional support chihuahua. Most chill thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Just laying half asleep, in a little over the shoulder duffel bag, getting loved on by half the hospital. That bundle of calm helped me a lot while I was there I got to say hi every day

71·1 year agoThen there’s me, in my 30s, some professional dev experience like 10 years ago that ruined me for years, looking to get back into the industry because everything else I’ve tried makes me feel hollow
Relatively smooth, round and ‘filling’, comes with a convenient stem to hold on to that definitely won’t break on extraction

1·1 year agoIn my highschool we had an English teacher who was super into the Beatles. Like “the second half of the year was literally just learning about the Beatles and it made up like 60% of your grade”. I used to like listening to them but not so much after that year. To this day I don’t know how they got away with that

4/10. The immediate extreme response is a solid opener. I do like how you bring the entire fediverse into it which could broaden the appeal. However this is much too short and not nearly unhinged enough for a good copy pasta. Sentence structure is too proper, too. Maybe try some good run ons, add at least two more paragraphs, and include completely irrelevant topics with no attempt to link it to what you’re replying to. I’m proud of how well you do and think you can go places with some practice
Meanwhile idgaf, here you go nerds: https://www.stevenrussellblack.com/ (but also yeah weird surreal body horror and other phobia triggers)

But when it decays you could replace it with more wood, and then if more housing is ever needed you pull more carbon out of the air to make the wood for that. Not that it’s the end all solution but actually replanting forests and increasing the amount of wood in structures, and replacing plastic furniture with wood, it all could help. Every lever matters

Well there’s the general world in fire and being trans in the US that’s ever present. For personal stuff I’m currently working toward moving to a new country and going back to college. Hoping that all pans out otherwise you know, being trans in the US…
Also to add I’m currently going through a divorce. Hoping that all pans out before no fault divorce goes under attack. But also I’m trans married so maybe they’ll just invalidate it anyway??
