I’ve been with Mint for over a decade at this point, and I had a T-Mobile 5G gateway in the van, so I’m posting as someone who’s used both services.
Were I still in the van, I’d jump on this, as I’m on the $15/month Mint plan, and T-Mobile 5G internet was $50/month. The former is the lowest tier (6GB), and the latter was lucky to hit 200Mbps but never went out in a storm.
Good prices on prepaid mean a chunk of change all at once, but it’s so nice not to have a monthly phone bill.
Anyway, not an ad, just figured this could save someone some money.
Get Visible, $25/month, unlimited data.
Mint is a scam run by a con-artist actor. Do not fall for it.
Yeah I never understood the obsession with mint. Unlimited data is important to me and I never want to feel like I ran out for the month.
Mint is not as good of a deal as Visible or US Mobile. There are reasons to choose either.
Some people are pretty much always on Wi-Fi and never stream anything on a phone. I struggle to use 500MB/month of cellular data, so the $15/month plan is overkill by far.
I’m not “obsessed” with Mint; it’s just been reliable service for a decade for the same price (data went from 2GB to 6GB in that time). The cheapest broadband around here is $100/month, so this would be less than half the price and includes phone service. With inflation being how it is, I figured I’d point out something that could save people money.
How do you use so little data? Dont you leave your house?
My music collection is on my phone. If I’m not on Wi-Fi, I’m generally listening to music, so no data needed. Basically, it’s just notifications while I’m out and about. I certainly don’t care to watch videos on my phone! I can send that tab to my computer and watch when I get home.
I got curious and checked my own usage. Averages around 700MB or so for the past few months. It spiked one month because I was using my phone as a hotspot for a work call.
Unsurprisingly, Google Play services uses the vast majority of my data. Fucking Google. I have unlimited, so it’s whatever, but still.
It’s a really long con, then.
