I started watching Strange New Worlds the other week, I’ve really enjoyed the writing! The only other Trek media I’ve seen were the Abrams movies, which were okay I guess. I understand Strange New Worlds is a prequel to the original series, is it worth it to watch the original series after I finish it? Are there any series to avoid?

Fun fact: the dwarf planet Eris is called that because the discovery caused an uproar in planetary astronomy, ultimately ending up with Pluto being demoted to a dwarf planet (and endless whinig by Niel deGrasse Tyson).

Is this fanbase truly so traumatized by each other that I receive multiple comments like this in a thread where there hasn’t really been any argumentation? Really makes me not want to engage with the community if the larger trend is so combative

Nah, I think it’s more a running joke than anything. Given that it’s a utopian show, we try to follow its example and not to be an infighting bunch of snobs. There’s definitely some polarizing stuff, but every series has its warts and its good points. We strive to honor all viewpoints and get along with everyone… unless they’re Neelix fans.

it’s a running joke, meant very fondly. We are all aware of the fandom and much healthier, as you should hopefully garner from posts herein.
