And yet, people bitch and rant about Kurtzman for… making stories they didnt like.
Roddenberry skimmed royalties, meddled and mangled in the scripts of others with aid from his lawyer, constantly persisted in bringing his sexual fantasies to the show, and might be a rapist but we’ll never know because both parties are dead.
Maurice Hurley fired McFadden for speaking up against his sexism, and he went on to literally write the book on being a misogynist.
Rick Berman ruined Jennifer Lien’s mental health, tried to do so with Terry Farrell before she got out, screwed Will Wheaton out of a big film role purely as a power trip, and was all around a creep rivalling Roddenberry himself.
Again, to the best of my knowledge, Kurtzman made stories that people didnt like.

Apoligies for the delayed response. Had to get my thoughts together after having a “drop of the cratur” as it were. Post evening shenanigans warranted review.
My complaints regarding Kurtzman are varied. He’s the pupil of JJ, notorious for pomp and mystery without any regard for a fleshed out plan.
Past that, his run came about during a block of plot by too many cooks. Coming off of that, there’s a thicket of checking off whichever cultural/sexual demographics the powers that be thought needed appeasing for the illusion of inclusiveness. A low point would be when Culber got fridged in season 1 only to be resurrected in 2. The representation, while appreciated, is tinged with a sour note of committee.
From DISCO to the pending shortened end of Academy, excepting Lower Decks, show that Kurtzman’s style is that of a yes man.
The still in limbo merger has me more concerned than hopeful.
Admittedly, the “Golden Age” of Trek is stamped with Berman’s hand. Still bears heavy criticism. Likewise, Roddenberry, for all his well documented faults, gifted us with this universe that keeps us talking.

Yeah, this is really comparing apples to oranges.
It is fine to like/dislike the creative direction separate from the question of someone being a “role model”.
When people talk about “hating” Kurtzman they are obviously being hyperbolic about it.
For example: I hate Kurtzman with a passion.
This whole ideological purity concept is so fucking tiresome and cancerous.
