Been using Zen for about 6 months now. I like it a lot. It’s also come a long way. I dig the minimal vertical tab bar.

2·2 months agoIt also refers to a computer scientist that explains the outage yet never references this scientist at all.

Technology@beehaw.org•Way past its prime: how did Amazon get so rubbish?English
51·2 months agoI canceled my Prime in 2023 to save money. They offer free months of it all the time. I swear we’ve gotten at least 8 out of 12 months free. I’d accept the offer then immediately cancel it and you still get the remainder of the time. Just pay attention to the offer because they do word it weirdly sometimes. Sometimes they’ll also offer 1.99 for 14 days. Accept and then go to Prime settings and cancel.

3·3 months agoUplay can sometimes be an ahole but it’s that way on Windows too. EA and Rockstar launchers have been fine through Steam. A friend bought RDR2 directly from Rockstar has issues with Rockstar launcher outside of Steam. Use Heroic for Epic and GOG.

Gaming@beehaw.org•What are your experiences using Linux for gaming?English
2·4 months agoThrough the Xbox Accessories app you can enable co-pilot mode between two Xbox controllers. So both are seen as one device. So I can use Left trigger and right trigger with my feet on the XBAC while keeping my controller in my lap and disabling the triggers on it so they are accidentally pressed.

1·4 months agoA kernel level rootkit for windows though. What is it going to have access to in Linux? Isn’t it just reading Proton’s windows files that are created for each game ran through it?
Making a post on Beehaw, a place that shares many like minded opinions on this, complaining why no one is ruining their lives/getting themselves killed over it and calling us cowards. Fucking yikes.
From what I can tell you’ve done nothing. Have you been to protests? Are you using 5calls.org to call your representatives every day to complain about what is happening? Are you going to your towns halls to speak on issues?

1·4 months agoIs there a co-pilot like function that can pair two controllers together? That feature with my Xbox Adaptive Controller is kind of keeping me on Windows. Or I have to give up those games.

15·4 months agoI’d also say the “share” function was up there. I wanted to see real posts by my real friends that took real thought to post. Not shit shared at the click of a button.
This is pretty cool. I make and 3d print pieces for my G502 to make it fit better for my hand/nubs. This seems like it has a lot of potential to design something better for me. That price is steep though but being disabled that’s nothing new to me.

Technology@beehaw.org•Microsoft has created an AI-generated version of QuakeEnglish
3·8 months agoPeople don’t even look at AI generated photos for more than a second. “Oh neat, next.” SO much wasted electricity for instant garbage. One decent AI image has probably a 100+ shitty ones that are just wasting GPUs and hard drive space. When those drives are full and old they dump them and then fill up some more. A mountain of invisible shit wasting our resources.

Micron took millions in tax payer dollars from the CHIPS Act to build fabs. To then turn around and shut down their consumer market is kind of fucked. That’s a little more than a nothing burger.
