Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a video game that you just don't get the hype about?
4·29 days agoI agree! The time loop was okay when I was just exploring more or less aimlessly but it got super stressful when I started finding leads I wanted to follow…

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's a video game that you just don't get the hype about?
2·29 days agoHmm… In my opinion you can’t really compare Balatro and Brotato. You’re right, both games are about making numbers big but the way, they scratch that itch is completely different in my opinion.
Of course the gameplay loops are different and when you’re more into the action oriented approach of Brotato, Balatro just might not be for you, but that’s not my point: In my opinion in Brotato you build your character and when everything goes right you reach a point where you begin to scale and roll and become pretty much unstoppable for the rest of the run. In Balatro you have more RNG caused variance in the main gameplay loop so you might have a rounds where you barely win and rounds where you draw just the right cards and destroy the Blind.
For me, a Brotato run feels kinda more “linear” while a Balatro run has more ups and downs even when going well.

Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Linux gamers on Steam finally cross over the 3% markEnglish
10·1 month agoIn addition to the other guy who answered you: Technically you don’t necessarily have to reformat you hard drive to install Linux. Many installers give you the option to resize an existing drive and install Linux alongside windows.
Also according your steam library: As far as I remember you can export and import single games and you may be able to move your steamapps directory to your Linux installation but this may or may not work depending on your setup and your games. If you don’t have a limited Internet connection I would recommend just re downloading the games your planning to play.
Cloud saves work fine whether on Windows or Linux.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the most seeming trivial thing you'll turn down a GF or BF for?
2·2 years agoDon’t get me wrong: You’re 100 % entitled to your preferences and your definition of a hobby.
It was just unusual for me to equate a hobby with putting effort and perseverance into something. For me a hobby is something you simply do for your enjoyment in your free time on a more or less regular basis.
But hey: Definitions differ.🤷

Whenever possible phrase a question in a way that can be answered in one word.
That’s a good one! I would also add: When asked a question, determine whether this question can be properly answered in one word. If possible do it!
This is particularly directed at my wife 💋

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Whats something that is only worth getting the expensive version of?
13·2 years agoFor me it’s toner for printers: I have a Brother laser printer at home that is not heavily used but at least once a week. I thought I’d save some money when I bought some cheap ass toner from Amazon that cost about half of what a original Brother toner costs and promised something like double the capacity.
Oh boy… I had the worst mildly infuriating two years of printing you could imagine: always disappointed of the printing quality but not THAT disappointed to replace this shitty but still at 2/3 capacity toner. I paid money for that toner so I’d squeeze every last page of shitty quality prints out of this fucking toner!
Last week I gave up and bought an original Brother toner and it’s a bliss. 🙄

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's an aspect of your job that college didn't prepare you for?
1·2 years agoWow that’s a really amazing answer and you sound like a great prof!
Can you tell us a remarkable example where you learned that students today have different need than you had in the mid 2000s?
Is it some kind of generation gap or were you just an extraordinary student when you were studying?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Introverts of Lemmy, what do you do when you feel lonely?
2·2 years agoHey, of course I don’t know your financial capabilities and the height of your allowance but I encourage you to not give up on your intention to learn bass guitar.
I don’t know where you’re located and what possibilities you have to find used instruments but here in Germany you can find used bass guitars on a portal called “Kleinanzeigen” (the German equivalent to Craigslist I think) for very little money or for free. Just keep looking.
Also on our big instrument online shop “thomann.de” you find beginner bass guitars for less than 100 €. I am sure you find similarly cheap bass guitars where you live.
Long story short: Don’t give up learning an instrument and have the courage to ask people around you to support you.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Introverts of Lemmy, what do you do when you feel lonely?
4·2 years agoDo you honestly not have a single dollar or euro to spend on an instrument? Instruments don’t have to be expensive and you can find beginner instruments that are exceptionally cheap.
What instrument would you like to learn and how much could you realistically afford to do so?
