I’m trying NOT to think about that right now… We have 10 kids and 1 grandson so we’re just trying to stay in the green while having a fun time

This is the way. I grew up farther north (compared to now) with decent mounds from snow plows so it was just a matter of waiting for those and then tunneling into them.
These days I shovel the snow from a larger area to build my mound before tunneling. Kids love it regardless ☺️
I would like to do this with .com but has been held for several years so went with a newer TLD. It’s mostly been fine aside from occasional person whose mail provider sends me to spam or the very few who block me outright.

Proxmox for self-hosting game servers and pfSense for my firewall
DNS, Jellyfin and game servers mostly; occasionally will tinker with other stuff but those are the ones that have lasted

We share a single PC account and do exactly this to easily separate our profiles; here’s what I have for my launcher for example:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Name=David-Firefox
Comment=Browse the World Wide Web
GenericName=Web Browser
Keywords=Internet;WWW;Browser;Web;Explorer
Exec=firefox %u -P David --class Davidfox
Terminal=false
X-MultipleArgs=false
Type=Application
Icon=/home/david/Launchers/Firefox/Firefox-David.png
Categories=GNOME;GTK;Network;WebBrowser;
MimeType=
StartupNotify=true
Actions=NewWindow;NewPrivateWindow;ProfileManager;
[Desktop Action NewWindow]
Name=Open a New Window
Exec=firefox -P David --class Davidfox -new-window
[Desktop Action NewPrivateWindow]
Name=Open a New Private Window
Exec=firefox -P David --class Davidfox -private-window
[Desktop Action ProfileManager]
Name=Open the Profile Manager
Exec=firefox -ProfileManager --class Davidfox
Here I’m using a custom icon to help tell our profiles apart on our dock and use a custom window class so each profile’s windows will group with each other as well.

Agreed. For anything beyond the simplest setup membership is the way to go especially if near enough to some of the cheaper options; we had a Planet Fitness open near us that offers $10/month for lowest tier membership (prior it was YMCA at $70/month for the family).

Safety razor
Blades are extremely cheap and always gives a great shave.
Elliptical and dumbbells
Gym memberships add up quick so went with a cheaper elliptical and a nice set of adjustable dumbbells.
Kobo ereader
As I get more into reading I’ve come to appreciate that this one allows loading my own ebooks from my PC which can save a ton depending on use case.

This 100%
I do my own renovations and build some simple furniture etc.; my drill and miter saw in particular have been invaluable.
The board games: Nightfall, World-Z League, and Unchained.

For the Reddit communities that are important to me I use their RSS feeds to keep an eye on new posts though I’ve logged out of my account and stopped participating. All actual browsing and participation was switched entirely to Lemmy.
Kids and I absolutely love popcorn; this has been my favorite popper by far:
No my pfSense setup is fairly minimal
pfSense on this:

I also block outgoing port 53 only allowing my Pihole through.
I use Tailscale to access the network while away.

Board games :(

Kiddos took interest in Beyond All Reason so have gotten back into that one again. Just practicing against bots so far; good times regardless.
Also figured out firewall settings to play online with Mario Kart Wii Deluxe so that one’s been dominating use of the TV.

I would go with RustDesk then which I also personally use to support family and friends where there’s only 1 PC they might need help with.
Valid to an extent. I’ve personally experienced various audits whether for ISO, PCI or SOC and the quality of the auditor certainly does vary though I’ve not encountered one I would consider incompetent; the audits have always been rigorous. I’ve not personally seen bribery though I have seen where an auditor might relax how aggressively they look for issues over the years of getting to know the people and quality of the company.
Proton just completed their SOC 2 Type II audit:

Accomplishments like this are why I continue to trust Proton and remain a paid user.
I’ve been using ProtonVPN with port forwarding for quite a while now specifically on Linux by downloading Wireguard config and running it via terminal. Works great for my purposes.
