No, if he is earning a billion a year that’s too low. But most billionaire have familial wealth and might be earning a few millions in a month. I don’t mind taking a million or two off of it even if he is not earning anything.

You can be a billionaire if you are willing to pay a million per month as taxes.

Science@lemmy.ml•Physicists Just Ruled Out The Universe Being a Simulation
32·1 month agoThe laws of physics have been consistent everywhere which is a basic premise over which the rest of the physics is based. Everything can be predicted however not very accurately. Every phenomenon has a function to determine probability of each and every outcome. That doesn’t mean we know everything. Things we don’t know makes us unable to be accurate.
Not here around the world, maybe in your banana republic.
We have atleast 10 varities in our country.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Do you guys just have flawless experiences or what?
2·4 months agoLinux is way easier to screw up because it gives you full freedom to do whatever you want. It is like riding a bicycle as opposed to sitting in a bus. Of course you can do a wheelie and fall, but would you rather be able to do a wheelie or sit in a generic seat.
Those were made up harder steel which can’t be sharpened to the degree softer steel can be. Harder steel shatters if sharpened since harder it is brittle it becomes.
So reusable needle are blunt, so injections are painful. And as mentioned by @Natanox@discuss.tchncs.de they used to shatter inside the body after a few cycles of autoclaving.
Autoclave will deform the needle even more. The edge of the tip is made from softer steel so that it is sharper while at the same time more deformable.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Realizing Arch isn't for me after updating broke VLC
1·5 months agoNot necessarily
Had a kernel update which couldn’t read a specific HDD controller chip. Since then I always install LTS version along with regular just for booting up if the kernel upgrade fails.

Cooking @lemmy.world•You're given a potato (any variety) to cook. You have everything in your kitchen. How do you prepare it?
4·8 months agoSlice it thin, shallow fry in a wok with vegetable oil, turmeric, green chillies, asafoetida, dry masala. Add salt to taste.
Eat as it is or with flat bread.
Maybe add some crushed cottage cheese while frying.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linus responds to Hellwig - "the pull request you objected to DID NOT TOUCH THE DMA LAYER AT ALL... if you as a maintainer feel that you control who or what can use your code, YOU ARE WRONG."
2·10 months agoI can’t fathom how do you mean Rust is not maintainable. If anything for a new programmer C code is much more mind boggling than Rust.
Writing in Rust might make it much more maintainable.

Linux@lemmy.ml•"Behold, a Linux maintainer openly admitting to attempting to sabotage the entire Rust for Linux project". Thoughts on this post from Marcan?
1·10 months agoReading the whole thread seemed like a boomer crying that young people are ruin8ng stuff by adding new fangled stuff to their perfect utopian bloat.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Asahi Linux Lead Developer Hector Martin Steps Down As Upstream Apple Silicon Maintainer

One of the part that gave me random reboots was the PSU. It used to drop voltage randomly, affecting random components. After changing that it was rock solid.
If you carry the same PSU from ur older server maybe try changing it.
Yes we got a sinking boat and were forced to keep on rowing. We were never old enough to say that the holes should be patched. We were given the dream that our time will come. We were told that our job was to keep our head down and row, so we kept on rowing. Till the boat sank.
We are the first generation to work but have nothing to show for it, as compared to boomers.
I said that to a friend of mine how to get percentage by creating fraction. They were flabbergasted at the sorcery.
The friend is a Doctrate of biological sciences and a professor. Where as I am just an engineer.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Did the recent Linux drama change your views on how you perceived Open Source projects?
1·1 year agoEverything be it software or anything else is beholden only to those who is the highest bidder. Being FOSS doesn’t change anything. This has been true for some time now that Linux and TLF is duty bound to businesses running it.
It had been covert till now, it is the overtness of this action which is surprising to most. I for one am surprised it didnt happen sooner.

Just like election fraud is of the Republican party.

Yes we are in middle of a multi million year process of merging of the bigger Andromeda galaxy and our Milky Way galaxy.
