I’m not really worried about whether a label or corporation deems me to have the “right” to listen to their music. The only thing I’m concerned with outside of consuming the art is the artist who made it. I highly doubt any artist would genuinely care if someone pirated their music but still payed them through other means (like buying merch, tickets, etc).

I think the argument of who gets paid what when you buy merch is irrelevant when you consider the alternative being the artist gets virtually nothing. I would have to listen to an artist 200 times for them to maybe get a singular dollar from spotify. If whoever is handling their merch store is giving them less than that for each sale of a shirt then it’s the artists fault at that point for still working with them.

Personally I do this by buying merch. If I buy a shirt from a band than not only do I get a cool shirt but the band also gets paid more in that single transaction than if I listened to their music 5000 times on spotify.

I’ve found the best way to check for leaks with torrenting is by using ipleak.net. They have a feature which will tell you the address it sees you torrenting from. Super handy.

This would depend on the distro you use. Most distros will require you to enable a non-free repository before you can install anything that isn’t Foss or open source from the official repos. You could also use an FSF approved distro. Keep in mind, the FSF will only approve distros that don’t include any non-free anything in the official repos. Besides that, you just have to know the licensing before you install it.

Maybe a little late to reply but I use steamtinkerlaunch. You can set it as a compatibility tool and it’ll open a menu whenever you use it that’ll have an option to install/open Mod Organizer 2. Manually modding does work but I can’t remember exactly how I used to do it since it was a few years ago and I’m sure things have changed since.

I’d love to get a NAS but i’m a bit too stingy. That definitely sounds like a better solution than just leaving my machine on 24/7.

I have 4 drives. An NVMe drive with four partitions: 500MB /boot 64GB Swap 100GB / and the rest of the 1TB goes to /home. Then I have a 1TB SSD for games which is mounted to ~/Games. Then I have two 1TB HDDs, one for Music mounted to ~/Music and another for Torrents mounted to ~/Torrents. I also have an 8TB HDD coming which will be another torrents drive

Generally I’ve found the people who say this get privacy and secrecy confused. You close the door when you go to the bathroom because you want privacy, not because you have anything to hide. Everyone has a pretty good idea what you’re doing in there but you close the door anyways. Secrecy would be if you were cooking Meth in the bathroom and wanted to keep it a secret.

You should be able to use adbshell with shizuku (both in f-droid) to remove whatever you won’t use. I doubt there’s any custom Roms that’ll help here though. If you’re willing to root the phone then you can probably find some way to get what you want.

I wouldn’t say this has anything to do with the Linux kernel itself. I would make the request with whatever app handles your auto-login (probably your login manager). Also I don’t see the point of a keyring password if it’s never entered. I think it would be by design that the keyring stays locked when no password or authentication is provided.
