What’s crazy to me is that this technology was used for only a few dozen years before it was replaced and for thousands of years beforehand there was nothing like it

4·2 months agoWhats interesting to me is that in both cases the only reason they could get away with it was the appeal to white cis men.
If it was a black guy and a white woman it would have caused riots.
If it was two dudes it wouldn’t have made it to air.
We should keep in mind that a lot of the progress we’ve made the last 30 years has been exploiting cis male sexuality. Maybe we could’ve avoided the far right resurgence if Netflix had a hit tv show about a sexy Syrian woman with a thing for blondes living in Berlin.

2·2 months agoFilmmaking has a “setup and breakdown” rhythm, several hours spent readying gear, lighting, and sets before actual filming can begin. In an 8-hour day, a greater proportion of the time would be spent on setup and wrap, leaving fewer usable hours for shooting.

1·2 months agoThe problem is that those longer seasons required 12 hour days for actors and crew.
Paprika I’ve found to be pretty key for anything chicken.
But I use MSG for basically everything now.
The old saying of ‘a conservative would let donald trump shit in their mouth if it meant a liberal had to smell it’ can now be translated to ‘a conservative will kill every last child in a red state if it means a child from a blue state will get a cough’
Humans would be more humble if our anus was on our forehead

Parenting@lemmy.world•Am I supposed to be enjoying any of this?
17·5 months agoI’ve always felt like living with the grandparents and uncles/aunts was a key component of making child-raising bearable. Two people isn’t enough for one baby.
And a separate tank for Scorpions to fight them, we’ll make a killing
I could never respect anyone who wore that hat.

561·8 months agoThe thing about Smoot-Hawley is that when it happened everyone else also put up equal tariffs among one another.
this time the EU, Japan, South Korea, Canada are only putting tariffs on the US. Not amongst themselves.

You can check out actual soldier uniforms from the civil war and world war one.
They were tiny and suffered from malnutrition. It took us thousands and thousands of years to overcome the harm agriculturalism did to our bodies
The average American world war two soldier was 5’8 and weighed 150 pounds.
