Sorry for your loss. No doubt in my mind she was a good girl, having blessed you with 17 years of love and companionship! RIP Riley.

Good call! Wife and I watched that one on a whim, thinking it would be a good “bad” movie to watch while having a few drinks and were pleasantly surprised!
You probably need be at least familiar with RPG/fantasy tropes to fully enjoy it, but it definitely felt like it came from a place of love and self-awareness, rather than the cynical cash-grab I was expecting.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
While you’re not wrong, you’re also massively over-analyzing and "WELL AKSHULLY"ing what appears to be a silly one-liner, not a serious attempted dunk on the article.

Not sure, how old I was, probably 10-12. This one isn’t so much classic nightmare, but left me extremely unsettled for weeks and still gives me the heebie jeebies when I think about it.
In my dream I was at an event for returning space shuttle astronauts who had just landed. Apparently there was some major problem during reentry, and most of the crew didn’t make it, but one had barely survived. When they brought out the surviving astronaut for an interview or whatever, the dude was literally just a naked human nervous system in a NASA spacesuit. Where his head would have been was the classic anatomy textbook image of just the brain with eyes floating in front of it, supported by a spinal cord. No bones, no muscle, unable to talk or anything. I remember the head was gently bobbing from side to side a few inches, and every so often the “head” would just rapidly spin around a few revolutions, then stop and continue bobbing eerily.
This is pretty much exactly what the dude looked like in my dream https://img-new.cgtrader.com/items/2443319/bd71a87570/large/nervous-system-and-dura-matter-3d-model-low-poly-fbx-gltf.jpg
I love the theme too, but South Park ruined it for me. I can’t listen to it anymore without hearing “Wiener, weiner-weiner…” in the back of my mind :(

That is a hell of a read.

Awesome, appreciate the tips! My printer has been a bit neglected lately, and this is just the project I need to fire it back up again.
Hope you enjoy your ritual as well!

Thats dope! My wife and I are so amped to see them in Chicago this summer, and I bet she’d love one of those.
Really? I’m a seasoned adult-er, and I still get a little flicker of wonder when i see those lights floating in the field behind my house on summer evenings.
Man, imagine seeing a field of fireflies IRL for the first time, if you had never heard of them before! That would be pretty mindblowing.

Given your instance, I’m guessing you’re not from the US… but here there are two generally standard shapes for residential toilets–round and oblong. The round ones fit better in small bathrooms, but man when you are used to the oblong shape it feels like sitting on a child-size toilet or something.

I bought a set of mugs like that recently. It’s a shame because they are pretty nice looking, and comfortable to hold when empty. But when full of hot liquid, the handle just is totally inadequate.
They are from IKEA, so at least they didn’t cost too much, but I am a little surprised because their stuff is generally pretty well thought out from an ergonomics and usability perspective–it’s only really the sturdiness/durability I ever worry about.
The best mugs I have are still a pair of the stereotypical featureless cylinder type I got from a giveaway 10 or 15 years ago–they are utterly boring, but the handle fits 3 fingers for a perfectly stable grip!

It’s the literal definition of a humblebrag though. Or at the very least, worded in a bait-ey way to try and get attention from appearing to be controversial. If you strip away the style and fluff from the post, then yes you can read it in the way you’re saying. But that controversial-ness is clearly intentional.
At the most charitable, it’s a failed attempt at humor. The less charitable read is that the second half of the post is just providing some plausible deniability to her being yet another insufferable Linkedin self-promoter.

The article is a little unclear whether 1.4×10^17g is the cutoff mass for the definition of a PBH, or the mass above which they calculate a PBH would cause fatal damage.
If it’s the latter, that is many orders of magnitude larger than i would have expected!
You can tell OP does not believe any person outside of America is human.
You did a lot more than conclude they have either been tuned out or need to re-think some things, and you know it.
Get out of here with that "If you’re not vocally against every evil at all times… " bullshit. It’s got the same energy as injecting “but what about men?” into every conversation about women’s problems.
Exactly, it’s a unit of convenience, not a unit of abstract precision.
Even a unit of “gallons/sqft” could be handy in the right context. If you were trying to design a storage solution for discretely packaged product for example, it could be a figure of merit despite literally factoring out to a unit of length.

I had to re-read your original comment to fully get your point, but I hear what you’re saying now.
(Or maybe I just need an excuse to dip out of this thread and try to bleach the image of a de-scrotum’d testicle from my brain)
My dog just startles himself when he farts.
I’m not sure what’s worse… being startled by the sound of a dog fart or being startled by a 60lb dog leaping off the couch without warning.
