9·11 months agoIn the early 2000s, only my rich friends had cell phones. My roommate and I both had accounts on each other’s machines so we could telnet into them on the same local network.
We used to do this all the time to each other. It was funny to us 25 years ago. It’s still funny now.

1·1 year agoI mean if you want root, just buy an unlocked phone. You can run Lineage OS on the Pixel phones just fine. Full root access. This VM system has nothing to do with that.

3·1 year agoYou should be able to pair them just like any Bluetooth audio device, providing your system has a Bluetooth radio chip in it. Most laptops made in the last 10 years do. I use my Redmi buds on my desktop and laptop without issue.

To be fair, the paid version of Davinci comes with the missing codecs. It’s only the free version that people have trouble with x264/x265.
In the US, a lot of Lowes Hardware Stores use Linux on their employee computers. Most movie theater projectors are running CentOS, and most movies that come in on hard drives are formatted to Ext2.
The Los Angeles Public Library offers:
- Free Museums tickets
- Free Zoo tickets (LA city residence only)
- Free state park passes
- You can borrow laptop, tablet, or even portable a Wi-Fi hotspot
- Free education software (Mango and Linkedin Learning)
- Free Comics, Music, Magazines, and Movies
- Free and cheap 3D printing
Obviously not every library offers all this, but check in with your local branch, and you might be pleasantly surprised.

91·1 year agoSee, here’s the thing about open source, you have the source. You can always compile a discontinued program. You can even update the code if you want. No one can say “You can’t run it anymore”. I can grab Linux Kernel 0.01 and still compile it. No one will stop me. No one!


A lesson has definitely been taught.
